Why not have a couple of 6ft panels along part of your garden with climbers up them and 3 ft for the rest? Best of both worlds!

I hope the google pics explain more as to why, the brick fence in 3 foot height all along...

Sorry, this one made me laugh! Curtains are shut - I wonder what the neighbours are up to?

When you get to the end of the garden when you turn around the eye view is straight into their double patio doors which looks straight into their open plan house, the man was sitting on his sofa minding his own in his skimpies enjoying the freedom of having no clothes on in this beautiful heat, it was most unexepected and mutual embarrasing being there at that moment:rotfl::rotfl: needless to say I skuttled straight back in and never went out into the garden again.

We have decided no bamboo, not stable enough, homebase recommended some plants but to fill the length would cost a small fortune so still very much persuading here for a fence;)

Because as you can see now by the photos it is a long fence area to fill and yes it would need a 6 foot fence as it is 3 foot now and does nothing whatsoever at all for privacy etc

Oh and no, neighbours have never wanted a fence up, no idea why but in conversations over various times seem very happy and content with the garden arrangements, would not like to have anything attached to their brick work which is fair enough, it was mentioned in conversation but they have lived there all their married life, 30 years or more and do not like change and have never wanted one which is fine but still it does not solve the 'one in the garden all in the garden suffocation feeling' oh and a lot of tut tutting over the various pets we have around here especially when one pet jumped the fence and was having a lovely time over there, then they did object but still not enough to get the fence put higher.

I think I was thrown because you keep calling it a fence but I'd call it a wall. How wide is your garden? Unless it's very narrow a 6ft fence should be fine.

I have never really worked out why people are embarrassed by what other people wear (or don't wear) around the house.

My neighbour popped her head over the fence the other day: if she'd not found me decent I'd have regarded this as her problem not mine. (Our fence is quite tall so she must have been standing on something!)

Just a quick post just incase anyone wondered how it went, we are now getting a fence:j:j oh the privacy:D compromise was OH was dead set against it, hated the idea, we would all be in darkness etc etc but he had his eye on something for a while and said if you get the fence can I have it? Of course, that is the idea of compromise/marriage/good relations so he is very happy and I am ecstatic I finally finally get to be in my garden with a cold drink reading my book not over looked by inquisitive people, bliss.

Thank you once again for all your fab alternatives, thank you for your time.:D
