When we moved in we found the previous owners dog had been allowed to scratch all the doors and the floors. Missing keys for the balcony and loads of rubbish chucked behind the shed. Also the garage had about 10 large unwanted items.

Most annoying was that the hot water didn't reach the en-suites. that took 3 call outs to plumbers to sort. The first refused to touch anything because the boiler had been put in a cupboard and the access wasn't sufficient. The second because we didn't have an installation certificate from the manufacturer. The third found a failing valve and replaced.

First home we bought we didn't get the keys till 5pm. When we arrived the place was spotless, with a not apologising that it had taken longer than expected to deep clean and some wine bread and milk and a list of emergency numbers, local tradesmen and details like bin emptying day.

I've bought from the sort of people that I wouldn't want to have as neighbours :)

Whole of the staircase wall will want painting.... it looks like everybody that ever went up and down grabbed the wall .... and some crayon marks. As for the handrail, that was painted by them, but probably straight on top of original paint, so it's rubbed away in 20% of the area.

If I am really lucky ... maybe the bins are in the place where the binmen take them from ..... I doubt it though.

I had a thread that became a money dilemma in the weekly email. Unfortunately it was before they introduced badges so I don't qualify. :(

Same here. My mum found out that Asda did mastectomy bras really cheap (below £10), it was posted as a money saving tip, but didn't get my badge as before they were brought in:(.

    What nice people.

My parents always left things clean too, and moved to places that needed to be cleaned. Or disinfected ( in uk).

a first night in one new house, the cats caught seventeen rats. We only had two cats. They lay them out in a row .

I didn't clean it again .... and tomorrow I won't have a shower as I'll be moving, so will be getting grubby anyway :)

Congratulations! Grubby or not you've got your own home.

Chuffed for you, which is probably what you'll be after all that cleaning!

I've always left a home immaculate when we've either sold/rented it out, it's just the done thing IMO.

We've generally moved onto what have become building sites, so I can't really comment on how properties have been left for us, as we've made it perfectly clear at the time we will be renovating.

Going out to get a bottle (or two) of red and some cigarettes, and will be catching up on nearly 25 pages on NPT.

Gave DD1 her first lesson today (where it's legal, of course, this was taken coming out the airfield). Don't quote photo, will delete :)

Jelly, why have you painted your garage pink?

It must have been Pink Whistley's choice in colour.

PN - sorry to hear that you're not skipping round your gaff in your smalls now supping your G+T.

Give it a few weeks and today's trials and tribulations will have faded.
