Yes. and yes.
If you want pop songs done bossa nova style there's Nouvelle Vague.
If you want them done reggae style there's also Easy Star All Stars.
If you want them done as chants there's Gregorian.
If you want classics done electronically there's Wendy Carlos.:)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Rap doesn't work at all for me. I'm not much into poetry. I like the melody.
Weirdly I like this. Some crossover/fusion music seems to have hybrid vigour, where the negatives cancel out. So I wonder if viva might like this.
And might Yorkie1 like this.
As lir says there can be too much genre-ification.
This website's an eyeopener.
Anyhoo I spend far too much time on Oblivion's SOOTHING MUSIC thread.
Thanks for that link - interestingIt was almost OK - it had a straight 4 beats in the bar and you generally knew where you were with it, although the more relaxed bit in the middle when you didn't know when the main music would come back in was a little disconcerting.
I'm not relaxed enough to cope with music that breaks the orchestral 'follow the script' rules, IYSWIM.0 -
I planned to do some studying this morning with the radio on in the background.
Unfortunately, there was a new show on the radio - a combination of Treasure Hunt and Deal or No Deal, where there are a series of location clues which have to be solved by listeners as the presenter in the studio and the presenter in the radio car (driving round to the next location to get the next clue) have no access to research tools.
It was a bit engrossing and far more interesting than studying
Oh well, there's always later (after weeding the allotment) :cool:0 -

I still think it'd be a good idea though.
I'd be more likely to be listening to a Swede with a Jamaican accent that makes gloriously disturbing music videos than thrash metal.
I don't mind music like that. While in Antigua I caught my 4x4 driver was singing a song while we were stopped at a beach. I know that song, I said, Ram Goat Liver. He then p'd himself laughing. Firstly because my accent apparently made me sound like the queen saying ram goat liver and secondly because most of his customers were American and only know Bob Marley and even then only about 3 songs. Swedes with jafaikan accents are a little odd though. So yeah, on music grounds maybe we'll do ok...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Cheers zag, not bad and she has a great voice. For what it's worth the country I do like tends to be stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously like Gretchen Wilson's Redneck Woman

There's also another funny one about praising the lord and passing ammunition (not the classic of the same/similar name). There are some very funny female lyricists in country, right back to Dolly and up to the current day. I like Carrie Underwood' s Before He Cheats too, though you would come across as a bit of a bunny boiler in you drove around the UK with that ramped up on your car stereo, the lyrics are deliciously vengeful...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? We currently have ~8 blue tits in the garden at once. I found a nest in one of the shrubs recently so I think they must be from there. It's made me really happy!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

I met her on the highway in September;
I can still recall that purple dress she wore;
She was sobbin' at the toll booth but I loved her,
and I knew no guy would ever love her more;
I promised her I'd stay with her forever;
She said to me our love would never die;
But who'd have thought she'd run off with my best friend;
You'd think at least that she'd have said goodbye.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
