I do dislike much jazz; I find its freeform style v stressful. However, I can appreciate a talented solo as much as the next person.

Jazz covers everything from Ella and Satchemo through Miles
    to Sun Ra.

Like any other art form there are people who create art that is easy to access and others who create things that require a little more thought and concentration.

And those are the narrow boundaries of jazz........;)

Anyway, I'm no great jazz fan in particular, but if have learnt a lot more through however many years of marriage and broadened my tastes in the genre through that time. A lot of genre - fication is splitting hairs and creates weird separations based on sales rather than derivation etc.

I like music that creates a mood, makes me think or makes me feel something and creates a physical and or emotional reaction in me. Sometimes I like music that confuses me and challenges me. There is real art in knowing what music not only is 'good' but appropriate when. ( Which is why good dj's are good of course). But knowing what music to put on in on when with who is a talent not to be underrated.

Exactly. I like the music I like - doesn't matter what badge people would give it. I get kind of suspicious of people who are experts in categorising music - it's like that is more important than the music itself!

On the other hand I am rubbish at that kind of thing - broad categories yes, but all the sub categories just confuse me.

I wouldn't even say I just like 'good' music regardless of the genre - I'm sure plenty of the music I like other people would think of as rubbish. Doesn't matter though :)

that doesn't mean I can't like songs from that genre, I just don't like many of them. .

    Very well put.

I can completely agree with that.

Interestingly some of the music I like the most is also from genres I wouldn't normally listen to as a first choice.

See, this is why we can't do the Mongol Rally together. We'd roll the car on the Pamir Highway arguing over whether to listen to your thrash metal or my best of Eurovision.

I would suggest you do try out whether you can stretch out fully without your feet or legs having to go up/over an arm rest.
5'1" so no worries ... short legs (27" inside leg), size 10-14 depending which bit you measure (top heavy) ... also, I don't mind having my toes hanging over the edge.... I can pretty much fit onto anything really - and am most comfortable curled up, or with feet on an arm.

Also, that one's got quite low arms, ideal for placement of cushions/pillows etc.

Compromise is to let you go first... after all, "best of Eurovision" HAS to be a REALLY short tape :)
