OK, that's Y13 marked. They're by far my smallest class though.
Just checked through my set lists for all the classes I teach. Far too many of them have the same name, all spelt differently. For example, I teach 5 girls (in 4 different year groups) called variations on a theme of Isobel, some of whom like their whole name and some like to abbreviate. They are Isobel, Isabelle, Izy, Izzy and Issy. How am I supposed to remember which is which????
Is year 13 A level? Does your school use those numbers? The schools I went to all used variations on Lower Second, Upper Third, Lower Fifth, and so forth, but different ones. So I went from Upper Third to Lower Fourth at boarding school and then into Middle Fourth at Day school.
Bruv went to Westminster, which had even less logical names for year groups.
My class at boarding school was 22 strong, and 5 were called Victoria. So they all ended up being called something else - the girl I was most friendly with finished up being "Sammy". I also grew up with loads of "Rebecca"s and "Sarah"s....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Pink whistley just came back with a small furry, and gave it to mauve squeaker, so I picked up muve squeaker and ran with her to kiwi in to the new bit of garden ( mauve squeaker never lets go) but I begged and begged her too.
Last time we were at parents' house Yossie switched one evening from catching rabbits to catching mice. In the course of about an hour he came in through his open window 3 times with a mouse in his mouth, and each time, dropped it. Seems to have rather missed the point, as cats are supposed to reduce rodent numbers in their dwellings rather than boost them!
After the third time Dad lost patience with Yossie and shut him in the scullery for a bit. Mum and I tried to find the mice, but they moved fast and we failed....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
We met with estate agent at old home today. OH had been in touch with three (as recommended) around a year ago, and this lady was the one he thought was best. I liked her, she gave a good pitch, we'll see her again next week when she'll measure and take photos. So we're trying to get more of the carp out of the house before then. Car sat on drive here at the mo with several more boxes in it - OH went to gig so didn't have time to empty it.
She seems confident home will sell! <amazed smilie> And at more than I thought would be possible! <even more amazed smilie> Old home has a large number of problems, though as far as I understand is basically sound, and we always looked after the roof. Most windows will need replacing, though a couple have been done, and new back door maybe 5 years ago... Actually might be longer ago, I'm losing all sense of time as I get older!
It was just after we got burgled, so has to be in the last 7 years. Hmm, or was it just we had to replace the bottom panel of the door that had the cat flap in it? My memory is going!
Mostly the house needs total replastering, and though electrics are OK they are not up to current standards. Nice Lady Estate Agent thinks around £20,000 needed to put house in good condition. I have to say I think that's a tad over optimistic, unless you can DIY it. I so wish I had the cash to get it sorted myself, I still think it's a great house, can see Snowdon from master bedroom. And side windows look west, so get to see lovely sunset skies especially in winter when you can sit by a blazing fire in living room and see the sky through the branches of the trees across the road.
Basically it'll prob sell to an investor or builder or someone who can do the whole thing themselves.
Have very mixed feelings. DD2 was born in the master bedroom, so I have very personal attachment to home. But we can't afford to keep paying council tax on 2 homes... It's time (over time really) to let go. But we'll still have a few fires in our lovely fireplace as we try and clear more stuff. Here's a pic of it on New Year's Eve 2006.

The Christmas Gnomes are on the mantelpiece - made by our DDs at Brownies I think. And Father Christmas hanging off cupboard to right we found lying on the ground near Xmas when OH and me were shopping minus kids. No internet back then to try and find sad owner! GrandTwins love him though.

 Could you do some sort of course that could count for some hours? That might "improve employability"... I guess they want to make looking for a job as onerous as having a job, though much worse paid of course. Barstewards.I guess the idea is to stop people that don't want to work sitting on their Aris all day.
That's the trouble with people abusing the system: it messes things up for genuine people.
That's exactly the principle, that looking for a job should be like having a job.
I don't mind doing the 35 hours, I would anyway, I really don't want to be in this situation any longer than I have to. It's just a pain having to write notes on all of it including number of hours etc. Like I say though it's quite flexible, so if I did a course that would count; just going to the university career service would count.
NDG, your mother clearly doesn't know what she's missing!

Probably a good idea to sell before interest rates rise. The chances are that'll have no impact but you never know...0

My agent suggested next spring would be quiet as the uncertainty of the election would be enough to make people hesitate so probably as good to sell now than wait for spring.
My phone was supposed to port yesterday, nothing happened :mad:I think....0 -

On the other hand, do agents ever counsel delaying? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

The school where I went as a kid and the schools where I've taught have had various naming systems and I can switch between them easily. I usually use national curriculum year names when posting on a public forum, though, or when talking to my kids or to anyone else not specific to the school in question.
Yes Y13 is when they do A-levels, so upper sixth in old money.
My year group at school was about 70 girls and had six Rebeccas. Sarah wasn't particularly common, but it was coming into massive popularity around then - I remember when I was a teenager my mum said many times that almost every girl baby she heard about somebody having seemed to be called Sarah, so that fits with you being (I think) a little over 10 years younger than me.
Nowadays girls are mostly Emily, Ellie, and Olivia as well as the aforementioned variations on Isabel, while boys are overwhelmingly Oliver, William, Thomas, James and Charlie.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

That's what is known in economic circles as 'lying'.0 -
I missed the tv show maggie and Lydia and on were talking about .
I'm going to purposely mess up my pill box order to try the new pills today so I have a couple of non side effect days in reserve.
This has been a decision of some considerable pondering.
