I like some solitude, not too long though but it is nice to be able to relax and read a book without someone wanting to talk to me, or the associated noise of 3 boys. In the mornings, I get up an hour or so before everyone else just so I can have the peace and quiet inside and outside the house....I love watching night turn into day.

I constantly get frustrated with not being able to do things that I used to be able to, then attempt to do it and fail miserably. Just over 10 years ago I was doing fun runs and half marathons, now I can't even slow walk to the post box 8 doors down.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Sounds promising. Do I take it the :j means you are pleased about this, or are your feelings more complicated than that?

    .

Yep. I'd do it tomorrow if it could be arranged. I'm ready and waiting now. Its gotta be done, nothing's gonna change, I'm bored of the waiting. Its likely to be the first in a chain of ops, so I just want to get going. Winter would be a better time IMO. But, doesn't work like that.

School sports day (part 1, juniors) tomorrow, house captain has just realised than as well as the kudos she ends up having to do a lot of extra chores.....

In September? Unusual. Hope it goes well for her. :)
I was thinking about getting a shock if you're in the middle of washing up - and reach to turn the knob as something's about to boil over ... and if it's not earthed properly .... can't you fry?

So many things would have to go wrong simultaneously for that to happen...

You'd need a live wire inside the cooker to be connected to (or touching) the outer metal case of the cooker (monumentally unlikely)...

AND for the cooker to be unearthed (extremely unlikely unless it's been majorly bodged by somebody completely incompetent and never inspected by anyone with any idea what's what ...

AND for your house not to have an RCD on the cooker circuit (illegal for a new build).

And if all those things were wrong AT THE SAME TIME, you'd fry whether your hands were wet or not. The sink's irrelevant.

So realistically it's not going to.

ETA Sockets are different. It makes sense to keep water away from them.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I get petrified using the microwave because the socket's behind it and the microwave generates steam .... which comes out of the vents.... some of which might be at the back.

I pull it right the way forward when I use it.

But then I also get scared when microwaving stuff that generates a lot of steam ... as the microwave oven's hot ... and dripping with water inside ... when I've finished. For this reason, say, if I'm microwaving boiled eggs, which take 10 minutes, I'll do it in 3 minute blasts and open the door and wipe the inside down with a cloth after each 3 minutes ... just to be triple sure.

I have never microwaved boiled eggs.

When I make poached eggs in the microwave they often explode.

It's great, I've got two boilers ... put water in, plonk egg in, nuke. One does one egg ... the other one does four.

If they explode it's because you didn't pr1ck them/enough, or did them too long, or need to turn the power down a bit (if yours is powerful).

Poaching can be awkward to get right, but once you've got the right mix of container, time, power, they're great.

Another amateur designer programme on the telly tomorrow.

Hand over your keys to somebody to decorate your house - and they've only ever done their own houses before, so complete amateurs .... doing some hideous stuff.

Your Home In Their Hands, BBC 1. Thursday 8-9pm
    Episode 1 of 3.

The home owners don't meet the designers until the end of the programme. Just seen one, it was hideous ... and the home owners didn't like it.

Wouldn't it be easier, quicker, cheaper and less frightening just to boil a pan of water?

Frying is not really the right term. A fairly modest current through the chest can cause the heart to fibrillate, which can be fatal. So, if you are going to adjust the cooker with one hand, it's best to take the other one out of the sink and not be standing in a pool of water.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I decided that I fancy having a go at some North African/Middle Eastern/Foreign cooking so I went into a local small shop to buy some sumak. It's one of those places where they blare out dodgy music from a tinny CD player.

    So I asked for sumak.
No problemo, got some right here.
Great, a couple of bucks. Got a little bag of sesame?
Nope only got a pound bag.
Oh well, I'll pop back tomorrow.
No need for that my friend. **Cuts open the bag and decants some into a small bag.**
So I was thinking to use this with a bit of dried thyme to rub into butterflied lamb to roast.
Hmm sounds nice, what you really want is some of this. **Starts mixing a large bowl of what he calls '7 spice'**Take 2 tablespoons of sesame, a teaspoon of sumak and half a teaspoon of 7 spice. Rub it in and roast the meat. Nom.

I will report back tomorrow as to how many noms it gets. Jacket spuds with stir fried asparagus, spinach salad and some good ham from Aldi tonight. Nom.
