    I've been Money Tipped!
I have put some hair treatment on and have my hair wrapped up before washing it out, and have curled into bed till I'm ready to do that. Pink whistley curled strait into my back and fell asleep and is having a really loud dream which involves punching my back and thrashing me with her tail. It must be quite some dream kill.

Aaargh. Started this morning in such a positive mood, to have it trampled on by M&S car insurance. I've been driving for 13 years without an accident. I have just got to the point of being able to protect my NCD after 'someone else' always managing a claim on my my car just before I get to it.

This year, my renewal rocketed. I spoke to them to discover a claim for £210 - not even my excess, in my name as driver. 'Someone else' (who has full protected NCD on his own policy) bumped into to a car in a queue of traffic. He had told M&S that he would settle it himself yet they paid out without any reference to us at all. What is strange is that they haven't asked us for any money either.

The upshot was obviously a higher premium and I've been shoved down to one year NCD. The lady from M&S has said that if I wasn't driving it should not affect my NCD but would affect my premium.

I cannot even get my head around this. Should they have paid out as a full claim, even? No one even consulted me, yet I'm the one suffering and I'm now insured apparantly incorrectly with another company. Why is car insurance as clear as mud? :wall:

The Bank has offered me a job but not the one I applied for. Basically it appears that they have spend quite some time assembling what can only be described as the most boring job description imaginable. I didn't even bother asking what they were willing to pay before saying no. Plan B then - I.e. Do nothing and collect my salary for another year before looking again.

My DH decided to drive through a puddle in January and wrote off his car. My premium (he is a named driver on mine) went up by 25%.
However, when DS, as a new driver, drove into the back of an Audi, he was only insured TPFT so had to pay for the damage to his car.
His insurers paid the £350 to repair the Audi, but when we asked they said we could pay them the £350 to cover the costs and it then counted as no fault, no claim. Don't know if that would work?

Did you have zero excess on your policy?

Hmm...perhaps you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself why they thought the most boring job in the world would appeal to you:rotfl:

Edit: perhaps the problem was they looked you up online and found my Facebook page instead of yours....
    I think....

Thanks. I will ask. I'm baffled as to why we've been asked for nothing (except a shed load now on the policy)

michaels, I'm certain the excess was £350?! I always put some degree of voluntary excess on.

Banks will often do that to get a good candidate on the books. You might find that they'll negotiate as to the job description/pony up more cash/pay for you to do a CFA/all of the above.

Why do we 'pony up' more cash. It's a ludicrous expression.

    Meh.
1824, in pony up "to pay," of uncertain origin. OED says from pony (n.), but not exactly how. In other sources said to be from slang use of Latin legem pone to mean "money" (first recorded 16c.), because this was the title of the Psalm for March 25, a Quarter Day and the first payday of the year (the Psalm's first line is Legem pone michi domine viam iustificacionum "Teach me, O Lord, the ways of thy statutes").

If a person needed extra cash in a hurry they would telegraph for it to be sent via Pony Express hence pony up.

    Much better.

Building regs and small spaces.... just a passing thought when I saw a property done up on HutH this morning - and I thought ..... "isn't there some building reg that'd stop water/cooker being so close"? On the other hand I've seen smaller with water/electricity close by. Maybe nobody checks even if there is a rule.... if somebody takes a kitchen out and moves stuff around, who would check.... probably nobody.

But ... here it is, any rules?
