I think, for catering, tomorrow.... assume I won't be there. That's better than thinking I might show my (unfurry) face .... and over-catering. I don't need feeding... I'm quite happy to be 'overlooked' if I do make an unexpected/late appearance.
I've got enough, its not elaborate. If its not all eaten it will keep in fridge till Friday for fir's supper so no one need feel pressure either way.0 -

I remember using golfball typewriters - with the handy/great "Video case" that contained more balls, with different fonts.
It was illegal back then, but people were less willing to make a fuss. As I said, they had been pretty good to her, so DW let it go.
Golf balls were great. I learned to type on an old manual typewriter of my dad's when I was a teen. I just fiddled around with it until I worked it out. I remember that he was most alarmed, as typing was regarded as a dark art in those days. You needed to get trained to use one, or so he thought. No reliance should be placed on the above! Corrected that for PN
It was.... MS Office robbed my generation of a skillset!
It involved typing, maths, knowing how to lay out each type of document, correcting errors manually (rubbers), being able to calculate exactly how to type up a table, with the vertical/horizontal lines typed, so it was centred on the paper, both ways, on A4 and A5, so it turned out that it fitted perfectly. Grammar, spelling, reading horrid/old writing and correctly spelling/grammar as you went along.
Lots to do!
And all of that without making a typing mistake.
Robbed we were.... sold the story that it was a job for life - with respect and an office of your own.0 -

Did you have a standard practice for what to do with the bits left over after you'd finished rebuilding? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Well, we didn't do a full strip down of the machines as this was within a single lesson and at our regular typing desks (big/fat desk with a handle at the front - you pulled the handle/top up and the typewriter appeared from inside the desk and the top slotted down the back of the desk..... so there weren't any stray bits at all.
You just had to know how to remove the main roller section mostly.... then use a brush to clean out the insides of the key basket ... and wipe down the rubber roller to get rid of old marks/stains/carbon/ink marks.... then how to line up the carriage and slot it back into position.0 -

I guess that, if the main roller section happened to be left over after reassembly, that would be rather obvious. You wouldn't just stuff it in your pocket and saunter nonchalantly out of the classroom. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Those long lost family things always make me way too emotional.
Not sure what to watch tonight. Don't really want to commit to a full film.
Was that programme about building 'Noah's Ark' any good? I think some on here watched it. That might do the trick.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Last night, looking at the paper, there were twenty channels to choose from, and not a single thing I wanted to watch. In the end, I watched 10 minutes of Jools Holland, then went to sleep. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
