Still playing catch up...lemonjelly wrote: »I decided a few years ago that this country has so much wonderful to it, that I didn't need a foreign holiday for years. I've had great fun jellying about the UK.
Holidays this year are a no-no, owing to the purchase. However I am keen to go off on 3-4 days out this summer.
Ideas so far:
the beach (barmouth and/or weston likely)
the wrekin (climb it, have a picnic)
Any suggestions? They can be local, or a travel, as long as it is do-able in 1 day (from the midlands).
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bletchley Park. Wonderful place. When a woman with an odd accent rang me at home to tell me there was a problem with my computer ( I don't have one at home, nor broadband), I explained that to her and then told her that her mother would be ashamed of her. Made me happy anyway.
DH's latest is that he just keeps saying "no you're not Microsoft, you've just called me and I'm Microsoft". Confuses the heck out of them. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sounds a bit like the call I answered where they were trying to insist I was overpaying for life insurance and wouldn't accept that I couldn't possibly be overpaying as I don't have any.
That call went on for a good 10 minutes more than it needed to!
Bletchley Park - that's on my list of places to go to. If you ever need an excuse to go again viva, I'd love to go
Edit: can tell it's been a long day - that was a lot of 'go's in the last couple of sentences!0 -
I'm always up for a Bletchley Park trip Nikks, and its not exactly a million miles away for either of us. It's a perfect place to visit on a nice day and I haven't been since they've done the renovations. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Some football happened while I was out, then?!
Just switched on the TV and did a double take. I like the way Bbc have put (seven) under 7, just in case it looks like 1. That must have been fun to watch for anyone not supporting Brazil.
Summer music concert at school tonight. Stunning.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Talking of giving up, I'm happy to have given up foreign holidays. This country is perfect for the sort of holiday DW and I enjoy. We have wonderful countryside and beaches. I'm fed up with cities, so doing the sights in some foreign city is not of interest. I'm happy to have a total journey time, door to door, of say three hours. Three hours will just about get you on the plane, if going to foreign.
I'll make an exception for Eurostar, though.
I suspect today is not the right day to say that there is another country where your choice of food and culture would be immense.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
