Why do airbeds never deflate and fold back to their original size so they fit back in the box you bought them in? It was tricky enough trying as the empty floorspace is smaller than a double airbed.... but in the end I gave it up as a pointless task.... if I'm that bothered I can have another go once I've moved
I have just re-discovered a collander/bowl that I'd mislaid .... used for washing beach finds. For some reason it was inside a "small, empty plastic storage box" and I'd put empty boxes out of reach on the top shelf of the built in cupboard.
That's definitely a "shed item" ... it'll be nice having a "place for everything" as finally everything can be in its place!0 -
I'd like to go to some evening classes like that. I'd like to have a go at DIY stuff like tiling and plastering and building things out of wood in a controlled environment.
I'd settle with finding a man with with wood tools and experience of cutting/sawing/shaping/joining wood. They would be welcome to use the garage
Back when the boys were small, I attended DIY courses as part of our local adult learning programme. Apparently, I can now hang wallpaper (erm...), make wood joins (well I did make a square mirror which looks pretty decent), fix a leaking tap (never attempted it since the course), cut tiles and put them on the wall (were not quite clean cuts) and paint pretty patterns in all different styles on walls and furniture (now this actually worked out pretty well!)
The courses were a hoot and ex bought me a power drill as a gift for finishing the courses....then proceeded to never let me use it!
James is good at DIY now, he was fitting light switches and replacing the bit where the bulbs go in (can't remember the blooming name) a week or so ago...he learnt from the master, me, armed with a steak knife as a screwdriver removing strip lighting and putting a new light fitting in the kitchen and a new light switch (upside down) in the toilet when he was a boy :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
OH went to Barcelona and back today, he has just got in.
Breakfast a bacon croissant on the plane.
Lunch a serrano ham baguette
Tea at the airport - a cheese sandwich..unwrapped it to fidn it was ham and cheese.
Supper on the plane..a ham sandwich
eurgh.
Hope he liked ham then.....not even an apple to break the monotony:(Took some students there years ago- fascinating place. Would have loved to have visited Burlington, the underground city bugslet went to years ago.
!
Eeek....remarkable memory alert. I once went to an underground place near Glenrothes, took me ages to find the place, even the locals were hazy about it. Never got to go underground myself, but a couple of artics casually backed into large door with not much building behind it. I do miss my driving days.
I keep meaning to go to Bletchley, should make the effort when I'm down that way.The whole situation is an awful mess on all sides.
Glad you said that, always been my uninformed thought.
Nothing crossed on GT day PN.0 -

You've made me feel guilty about how rubbish I've been recently about doing anything around the flat. So I've spent the last couple of evenings cleaning the kitchen, which needed serious de-junking, while Kermie snoozes on OH's chest.

vERY different situation NDG. You had a BABY six weeks ago. You live full time with your partner who is able to do half the chores all the time and the loins share when you've JUST HAD A BABY.
Right now kiwi, who likes to pretend he is still a baby, is lying on his back , with his head in the crook of my arm making grunting noises.:o0 -
I feel embarrassed to say that I haven't worked out what GT stands for? Obviously, to do with completion day, but I can't work it out.
My friend isn't a lush, by the way. Her idea of a double whiskey is a whole teaspoonful, rather than half.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Just decanted a couple of items into the car.... lounger, folding chair and clothes rail. Plan A would be to erect the fabric wardrobe and the simple hanging rail today so that tomorrow I can at least hang up a bunch of stuff, rather than just leaving all the vacuum bags stacked up, or emptying them into a pile on the floor, sighing and walking away
Also, to erect the plastic shed shelving unit I got ... I don't know if the shed's a key job, or a padlock job .... but I've two padlocks in the car from when I had storage units. That way "shed stuff" can at least be put onto shelves instead of lobbed into the empty shed.
Boot's full now. Can't drop the seats down as the agent's in town, so I'll be having to park in a public car park. While it's 110% safe to leave stuff in your car, it's not worth the risk in case there's one scrote loitering who decides something looks like a haul.....0 -
