The Wikipedia article on the Ebola outbreak is intensely depressing. Probably best not to read it and hide under the duvet instead. This is one gem:

On 9 September, Jonas !!!!!!!-Chanasit of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine controversially announced that the containment fight in Sierra Leone and Liberia has already been "lost" and that the disease will "burn itself out" after, eventually, infecting nearly the entire population, with half of them, or around five million, succumbing.[101]

He is probably wrong about half. The fatality rate is more like 75%.

Officially it's mid-march sometime but twins come early so it will probably happen in late February I expect.

My twin brothers were just under 2 weeks early. Weighed 6.5lbs and 7lbs...
My mum is almost 6 ft tall so there was probably a fair bit of space in there.

I'll start worrying when indigenous tribes of the New Forest are being sealed off.

Taking James back to uni today, although I will miss him, I will not miss the piles of clothes, the empty coke bottles and the constant running around/phone calls asking to be picked up.

He will be back in 5 weeks for his 21st birthday bash, a joint one with Josh who will be 18 the day he comes back.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Took the Generalissimos to a fete today. It was terrible. They had 2 stages with music on about 50 yards apart playing music at the same time. Plus the Rotary club was playing jazz too.

We ended up going down to the harbour and throwing rocks into the water which was great. It was a glorious day today: warm and sunny. Everyone is really cheerful as a result.

Then we went to the RSL for a drink and I entered the meat raffle. I won a steak tray and a $30voucher to spend in the RSL.

These members clubs are basically a way to transfer money from people who play the pokies (fruit machines) to the pockets of the Directors. As a result, the raffle is hugely subsididised. I spend $20/wk on tickets and on average get $45 of prizes.

Luckily we are having something of an Indian summer here otherwise your weather comments might be a little galling. Our weekend is slightly ruined by the car not being up for a trip to legoland for which we have tickets to use by end of September and rapidly running out of days.

Seems odd that the RSL should take money off one type of gamblers and hand it back to those who choose a different form....
    I think....

I guess the only possible good news is that eventually you start to get a bigger pool of immune survivors to provide care....of course before that point comes complete collapse of society with feudalism gangs warlords looting witch hunts starvation power and water supply failure etc.

I wonder why there is so little media coverage of impending 10s/100s of millions of deaths, I assume the lack of international support was becase it was very quickly recognised that this was a losing battle and resources are being concentrated on developing a vaccine.
    I think....
