Your children are stunning, Michaels.
My current passport photo makes me look like a witch (according to my ever supportive mum). My hair is covering my ears. Not sure whether standards have changed since that photo was accepted.
Edit: PS it that why you prefer white walls?0 -
Now we're off to a hotel for the night to give Mrs Generali some peace and quiet for her studies. She has an accountancy exam in a few days.
Good luck to Mrs Gen. Did Miss Gen enjoy her birthday?
Properly smoked fish is a joy. When I get a new barbie my plan is to turn my old one into a combi hot and cold smoker.
It is indeed. Smoked haddock is a particular fave of mine - and "buried treasure" fish pie, with half smoked haddock, half not-smoked haddock and chunks of boiled egg with mashed potato on top is wonderful.lostinrates wrote: »
In the same way as you can have on street heating in winter if you walk close to car exhausts;)
In Norway, they have under-pavement electric heating in some places. Which is weird, OH says, when he first came across it he jumped.I also picked my first ever sloes today. Or at least I'm pretty sure they're sloes
Are you sure they are ripe? Lots of things are very early this year, but it's quite early even so for sloes.
I checked a few on my parents' south-facing hedge last week, and didn't think they were entirely ripe yet.....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
We all do it. It's something to do with typing. The homophones get mixed up. I don't make the same mistakes when writing by hand. You are not alone!
I'm exactly the other way around. My spelling is worse when I write by hand (apart from typos). So I might type "hte" but wouldn't miswrite it, but in terms of spelling, typing helps.Yes - when I mentioned water I was thinking of tides. I think it's entirely more likely that people have had disturbed sleep this week due to the light of the moon rather than anything else. I'm happy for others to believe different things though. My next door neighbour is into more 'spiritual' things than I perhaps am. I'm quite tempted to ask her for a bit of help at the moment though!
Could well just be confirmation bias, and people aren't actually waking up more, just it is being noticed more?
Like the idea that more people go mad / go into labour when there is a full moon. People spot the pattern, but it doesn't exist. There is evidence that nuns menstruate around the same time as do women who live in the same house sometimes. So likely that people can influence each other, but I don't reckon the moon has anything to do with it.
I thought that, too, was an urban myth?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Couldn't get twin 1 to look at the camera so I don't think the passport office will accept this, especially given twin 2 appears to have photobombed the picture.0 -

Very much so. She's building her Lego as a type while The Boy plays with her remote control car.0 -

When is Mrs Chewy's due date?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Oooh handy. Thanks. I'll bear that in mind next time I need some of my kids.
I've done some more digging about the ears. It turns out it's fine to have your ears obscured by hair, but you must be straight enough to the camera that both ears would be visible if the hair wasn't there! The applicant’s full face, with head facing straight towards the
camera. If the applicant is not full face or facing forwards, their facial
features will be captured at an angle, and facial detail will be obscured.
For example, they may not meet the requirement for both ears to be
visible unless covered by hair. The head must be straight, not tilted
down or up (head tilted backwards or forwards should be rejected), to
one shoulder, or facing left or right...

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Officially it's mid-march sometime but twins come early so it will probably happen in late February I expect.0 -
Beep gate moved here through the night, well, very, very early morning.
This might have been less frustrating if it hadn't come after gate-gate.
We heard neighbours gate in the middle of the night. They're calving, so, its not unreasonable they might be up, or a vet might turn up, but its also a gate thrives are quite likely to try and use, so we were trying to work out if it was normal course of business or not without getting dressed and going down. In the end we went down because we just couldn't tell. One of the relief millers had left something there he needed to collect as he's not milking today.
In the restless ness I have pulled the duvet out of the cover it went in last night.0 -

I got a shock when out one night about 30 years ago in a small, village, pub - it was a "bit of a posh" pub though .... the loo seats were heated!0
