RP feels ( rightly I guess) vindicated.

A retirement hobby has become writing letters of complaint. E.g. On challenge a parking ticket and receiving a refund RP noted they did not apologies...so wrote to say this was not really cricket. So they wrote to apologise.

Today's victory is that after complaining about annoying road waits caused by a developer and road adaptation, this was escalated to House of Commons. RP is delighted that the few minutes delay in busy lifestyle of writing letters of complaint and leaving lights and taps on ;) is resulting in a change in how developers will be penalised for blocking highways unnecessarily ( its true, they did use it for weeks when they didn't need to....)

Plant something prickly that will grow over the wall but otherwise take care of its self. :)

You name it, I'll grow it..... it's that bit "take care of itself" that's the tricky bit.

I could get you a holly quite cheaply. The right climbing rose needs no attention. I need a picture of the space though. :)

Could think of lots of things really , give me a little time. My guess is you want to retain light though, so not block view, so holly might not be right,

Is there an award for procrastination that I could nominate myself for?

When I get round to it, of course.

I think I need nominating for it too ... Part B of the next assignment is hard, so it's very easy to become sidetracked rather than focusing on it ... :o

I'm still quite seriously thinking about taking out the 'grass' at the front and making it a e.g. camomile lawn.

I took out the big bushes from my small front garden when I moved in (they were v. overgrown and weedy) and it's still soil for flowers / veg, because I really didn't want to be lugging the mower through for a tricky mow.
but it's now about 4" and green and lush.... so it'll look different after I've done it (hopefully better).

Might be worth doing it sooner rather than later - 4" is quite long, and mowers can struggle with that sort of length depending on their type.

Or just set up one of those "water spray" devices, intended to keep cats off the lawn.

It's a very complex spot and set of unique situations, which really requires photos and explanations.....

Why do people telephone one while THEY are eating?

Its weird. And a bit yucky.

I can understand answering the phone whilst in the middle of a mouthful (though that would be bad enough) - but making a call? No need!
I don't think any of you crossed your fingers. He didn't turn up this morning. When ohoned he said he drove up and done road around the corner for half an hour and couldn't find it.

Rearranged for two -3 pm, and said, ' if you cannot find it CALL' . No sign yet. :(

After my proactivity in getting the front door ordered over the weekend, I called builder yesterday as I was still waiting for his quote. He said he'd actually been a bit miffed he'd not heard from me as he sent the quote a few days after coming round (I believe him). Another quote is on it's way. I hope it is around the figureI'm expecting...

That is probably true. I am left wondering how, if parents have a child in duress, they can trust the authorities to pursue the culprits instead of themselves if the parents already know it isn't themselves. :(

I know you cannot answer this and I will stop now.

Sorry. It must be incredibly frustrating and heart-breaking if you want the police to find your missing child, and they are wasting time investigating you.
And it seems often those least likely to help or believe them in some areas the authorities there to do so.........

I know. The whole situation is pretty awful.

I can't believe how long this is taking them. It's now the 9th day of work (straddling two weekends of no work). It's just a regular 9'x9' white uPVC thing. Not built over drains or anything complex.

Should have been finished a week ago. They must win the "slowest builders ever" award.....

Somebody else I know that had one built had the foundations down one day - and it took one man one day to put it up.

There have been two conservatories installed here recently, similar size. 10-14 days total in each case, with some other works on the house at the same time, eg new windows/doors. PITA while happening though.
