Sorry yesterday didn't go well Nikks, hopefully today will be better.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Youngest didn't get on the course he wanted at college, they want him to do a maths re sit (expected) plus also do a level 2 course (worth 3 GCSEs) to bring his total amount of A-C GCSEs up.

I had already warned youngest this was a possibility so he was prepared for it and he is looking at it positively, the course suggested will be an added bonus for his ICT level 3 when he finally does do it and will improve his skills in that area.

That said, he was like a bear with a sore head last night, very out of kilter and stroppy but again, I expected that...it's a new place, with new people, with a completely different routine and they threw him a curve ball by having him sit a maths assessment which he was completely unprepared for.

He's looking forward to it though!

I missed the news, but share in the pleasure it has clearly caused - good results for papa jelly I'm guessing.

My pet hate in bathrooms is a complicated shower bath system, which requires certain levers and taps to be turned in sequence to get water.

I agree. It's OK to put a shower over a bath if there isn't space for a separate shower cubicle, but the shower itself should be a proper shower with its own controls that are nothing to do with the bath taps.

Glad that it is coming to the end for you. Do allow yourself some leeway in the next week; the end of a chapter may make your emotions fraught.

Thank you. It's over now, and I'm back home. V glad to have slept in my own bed last night. Now have to deal with DD's birthday, and inset on Monday with term starting thereafter. So it's a really good thing the inquest didn't go on into next week. The verdict was (unsurprisingly) accidental death, and the summing up was comprehensive while admirably succinct.

Good luck to youngest in new place Sue. Hopefully he will adjust well and find the supportive and understanding learning environment that he should have had the past couple of years.

Have you managed to speak to the person with responsibility for dealing with students about his issues and got the reassurance that things will be better there? I am hoping that it will be a new beginning for him and he won't be messed around like he was before. Sorry... another question, is it all on one campus for the new place?

    What viva said.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

:j:j:j:j:j:j So pleased about your news, jelly.
Stupid, stupid body. Grrr. Still, I was thinking about getting out the vacuum which I 'm not meant to use, so.....:)

Sorry it's being bothersome for you, lir, but please look after yourself and don't overdo things.
Sibling's shower head is fixed to the wall ... at least mine's removable, so you can use it to rinse out the bath, or whatever.... or even to keep your hair/head clear of the water when getting in.

Fixed shower heads are up there with integrated bath/shower tap systems on my list of undesirable shower features.

Oh Bless! Loved the story of the couple married 80 years. :) I though OH and I were doing well to reach 40! :o

I loved it too. But it doesn't make any difference to the fact that you and OH certainly ARE doing well to reach 40. :T

Air rifles under proper supervision - possibly. 12 bore shotguns or machine pistols - not for kids...I don't often say "will someone please think about the children" but that kid may never really get over accidentally killing someone even if it was all his fault.

    Exactly.

Yep, they are very hot on meeting the statements at the college...which is why youngest's main helper over the years suggested he went there, she knew he would be more supported.

And yes, it is all one campus and a very nice campus it is too! Perfect acoustics for youngest, no feeling of being cramped due to lovely wide corridors and lots of outside views so he doesn't feel trapped.

Excellent. So pleased for him. :)

I've taken mine on a tour of the local college to widen his chances, as his school doesn't have a sixth form. Got a decision looming very soon.

Good luck with the decision making, zag.

I love our fixed shower head.

Even though i hated the unfixed ones behind in the wrong places. This one is right all the time. Though I admit, its not ideal for a party in winter because somebody will get too cold.

We have a hand held unit in there too. For not getting hair wet there are shower caps and baths :)

We should start thinking about the next shower really. :( finally saw a bath we both like but its too big, lol. Only taken two years to find that one!

Just checking on what I said a few days ago about tyres. I've learnt a bit more since.

All three of the vehicles that lost control had rear tyre treads of between 2 and 3mm (legal limit 1.6mm). Bloke next door who travels for work tells me his company tells its employees to change their tyres when they get to 3mm. Unanimous opinion of all expert witnesses in the case is that danger of losing control of car is much worse if your rear wheels aquaplane than if your front ones do, so you should always put the newer tyres on the rear wheels - "Better to back".

Has it helped emotionally, that the case is over?

Yes I think so. It's a huge item off my list of looming "things that I am eventually going to have to get through". My emotions are not how people expect them to be, I think. It feels terribly important to know everything and have all the statements and photos etc, but I have not been finding it particularly distressing. It was good to have it definitely confirmed that he didn't suffer, though - his GCS was 3 throughout the entire hour and a half between the crash and when they pronounced him dead.

The other emotional thing is that having already had very strong feelings about seat belts since it happened, I now have very strong feelings about tyre tread, too.
