I just bought one of those Rosemary plants at the supermarket - in a pot, in the salads aisle.... the ones you're supposed to put on your windowsill and break bits off to cook with ...

Well, many moons ago I bought a lot of Rosemary plants for my garden and planted them out (hoped to make a bush, but didn't have enough, but they did grow.

I've just plonked it outside in the rain and plan to plant it in the garden, so it grows in the ground ..... is that right? Or are there different sorts of Rosemary and I shouldn't do that?

It was reduced from £1.50 to 20p ... so seemed a good idea to try it out.

My 19p "grow your own chillies, in a pot" have really grown .... they're about ready to split up now. The green stuff's about 4" high on those.

Plus, the little girl must be traumatised.

When I was 11 I went clay pigeon shooting with school. I loaded my shotgun out of turn so flicked then lever across the back with my thumb to break it. Trouble is I had my finger on the trigger. The result was a hole a foot deep in the ground about an inch away from my foot. Things could have been rather different if I was a tiny bit unluckier - I could have blown my own foot off or alternatively killed one or more other people.

Air rifles under proper supervision - possibly. 12 bore shotguns or machine pistols - not for kids...I don't often say "will someone please think about the children" but that kid may never really get over accidentally killing someone even if it was all his fault.

It took me reading this to work out the significance of the earlier post. I'm so thick sometimes.

Great news, pleased for you too lj!

I shot as a child, but always under strict supervision. Before I was allowed to shoot, I had to learn how to handle a gun, always point it away from people... never leave ammunition in the chamber, etc. I learned with an air rifle, air pistol and crossbow. All were treated with the utmost respect. It was much later that I was allowed to use a shotgun. The fact that any child this age is allowed to shoot an automatic is just dreadful. I feel sad for her, she must be so traumatised and its something she will need to live with forever. It's irrresponsible. How are they supposed to manage the recoil? I bet there are a lot of kids with broken collarbones too.

Good luck to youngest in new place Sue. Hopefully he will adjust well and find the supportive and understanding learning environment that he should have had the past couple of years.

Have you managed to speak to the person with responsibility for dealing with students about his issues and got the reassurance that things will be better there? I am hoping that it will be a new beginning for him and he won't be messed around like he was before. Sorry... another question, is it all on one campus for the new place?

Yep, they are very hot on meeting the statements at the college...which is why youngest's main helper over the years suggested he went there, she knew he would be more supported.

And yes, it is all one campus and a very nice campus it is too! Perfect acoustics for youngest, no feeling of being cramped due to lovely wide corridors and lots of outside views so he doesn't feel trapped.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

DW used to live in a US state that allowed guns- not that you ever saw any - cops didn't seem to get out of their cars and the public weren't allowed to carry them visibly.

You'd go to the state border and there were huge threatening posters about not carrying guns into the next state and how they prosecute every single infringement of the no-guns law.

One satirical article I read once pointed out that it's as if a whole society was scared of being attacked with bottles of acid and so carried bottles of acid to splash back at the people who'd try to splash you. Plus you'd have to develop a spurious interest in copper etching so you'd have an excuse for carrying bottles of acid in the first place, with magazines and clubs popping up everywhere to make it all seem legitimate.

I'm glad that looks like as suitable place for your DS. I've taken mine on a tour of the local college to widen his chances, as his school doesn't have a sixth form. Got a decision looming very soon.
