One of our pole ends keeps falling off. I haven't worked out how to secure it.

I thought I'd do what I thought was a quick quotation. It appears to have taken all night. Head spinning - not a good time for bed.

Oh dear, michaels. Is this your last family holiday as far south as Cornwall?

M5 wasn't too bad...but unfortunately first hill out of Exeter was too much for the car so we are now waiting for recovery :(

This is the stuff of which family legends are born. Shared experiences.
Give it up to a higher power and try to see the funny side.

Good luck for the rest of the hols.

I might try a couple of small elastic bands round the pole, then wiggle the end on ... 2-3 narrow ones.... maybe 1 will be enough.

If my memory serves right, it's actually Devon he's going to ... but on the border somewhere. I only remembered that later...

!!!!!! (sorry). Break down truck arrived at 9.15. At 10 he decided he couldn't fix it and even though we are only 30 miles away from final destination said he would drive us 1 mile to services where we would have to wait another hour for a second breakdown truck. Sort of fair enough but had they warned us first we would have arranged for the kids to be picked up. Then he broke the hand brake offloading the car. I asked him to write on his sheet that he broke it. He dived under the car and took a photo of corroded cable and refused to write anything. Then he called his boss who said they were abandoning the job and refunding the money so now we are waiting for my parents to pick up the kids and the break down insurance company are arranging another recovery.
    I think....

Our windows are a pain. There is an extra small pane above the opening patio doors. So the curtain pole has to be positioned really high up, meaning there is nowhere to attach the middle bracket to the wall. So we have to have light weight curtains that won't pull the pole downwards in the middle.

To add to the complications, the lounge curtains are tabs not eyelets, encouraging them to draw across is painful.

Having had that problem myself with tab tops, can I suggest the strategic use of a bamboo garden cane? Works a treat for positioning curtains, and when it happens to break, as it will, cheap as chips to replace.

Oh dear. This hasn't turned out to be the best day for you :(

It doesn't really sound like it was his fault the handbrake went, though, more like bad timing :(

On the plus side, at least you were close enough for your parents to be able to help out.

    Have a dodgy hug

Hope you can get to where you want to be asap. Sleep well, and tomorrow is a new day.
