I decided to take an extra day and drive today as couldn't face the traffic tomorrow and just feel to knackered to do the drive on a Friday evening any more, getting old.
.
That you have recognised it, and taken the time to go a bit easier on yourself pleases me no end.
We need to hear more of such things. Have a lovely holiday.0 -
For all you history lovers on hukd they said access to ancestry dot com would be free thisspurious nd, don't know if that helps anyone.

Not heard from Gen re the other matter but will of course let people know when I do.
I will send you an email later. My phone for some reason thinks your email address is apphone number.
All of IT is out to get me today. I spent an entire day speccing a project only for IT to add in about $50,000 of spurious costs, rendering the entire thing uneconomic.
If they don't want the project to go ahead, which they don't as it clearly spells out the fact that they have the financial probity of a drunken sailor in a brothel, they should have just said no at the beginning rather than wasting my time.
Livid doesn't begin to describe it and I came out of the meeting over three hours ago. At 2:01 I was ready to start punching people. Just as well I didn't as my target is a 6'5" islander for whom the phrase 'big unit' might have been coined. He's absolutely massive. His leg probably weighs more than me.
Thank goodness it's the weekend.0 -

We've had a 3-door small Fiat throughout Isaac's life, and we're (just about) going to be able to get all our stuff for a week plus the 4 of us to Cornwall tomorrow in it.
But chewy isn't London based any more. It does make a difference to how often they'll use the car.0 -

On Wednesday I needed to reply to a serial PITA. Well, four replies actually. This person is a legend in their own mind, pompous and confident but wrong. Most of what I was writing we had already discussed in meetings and phone calls which he acknowledged. He was however bemoaning a lack of communication so I decided to confirm everything in writing.
I had to get a colleague to work with me on drafting the replies as I could not trust myself to be professional.:(0 -

Its 8.51, how is every one doing?
I just closed cupboard doors in the kitchen, cleaned up after breakfast I didn't eat. But Rp did make me a super cup of tea so I'm ok.
On the bad side, pills are losing impact. Everything pretty much hurts this morning. Not badly, not in a way that ruins life or anything, but in a 'oh, right, I see' sort of way.
Next apt beginning sept.another new consultant ( to give secon opinions on previous treatment plans by another one) another new hospital. New physician recommends this one. Hasn't decided on which second opinion consultant to recommend yet. Depends on this guy.

Where I work it support have spent about 3 days trying to did the directors laptop requiring a fair bit of his input and no doubt lots of theirs. To me this must know have cost a lot more in time than providing a brand new replacement let alone the obvious solution of just swapping the broken one out to be reimaged or fixed and replacing with a spare. But then again I waste probably an hour a day at a decent hourly cost to them waiting for things to run that 30 quid of ram would fix. I do not understand.
Have you asked for more RAM? I would probably have upgraded it myself as a private initiative, simply because I can't stand sitting around waiting for machinery.
DW has an ancient laptop from work that is simply incredibly slow. Two or three minutes to open a programme. They have been talking about replacing it for six months. In the meantime I have bought an adequate machine for £160. She does as much as she can on that or on a desktop we have provided. The only snag is that our machines are not secure. So, when there is a break-in, somebody will wake up. If IT had not said they were upgrading DW's laptop, I would have bought the extra stick of ram it needs by now and donated it. But by setting up an upgrade project but not carrying it through they have stifled personal enterprise. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I've seen this.... there are many reasons why/how it happens .... and it starts with a project spec and good intentions, then, by 5 years later you've got a whole raft of personalisations going on and some people being allowed to get away with stuff.... e.g. Director's probably taken it home and installed games/whatever on it and let his kids loose with ... and people "have to fix it" as "it's the Director"....0 -

And there's the sort of person IT has to deal with ......
It's NOT "a private initiative" - it's "creating mayhem in IT by having a non-standard build PC on the network"0 -

How much mayhem will an extra stick of ram cause? There's also IT dept. hysteria, and they get away with it because they are experts and nobody dares challenge them. In the meantime, users are left high and dry.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
