....also what's it really like? OH has a Master Plan to fill our new top floor with them (as there are tons down in Thanet) to fund the refurb......forgetting that it will be me who has to clean their rooms, feed them and do all the looking after.

I have a friend who has students like that. It's a lot of work. It's OK for her because she only does a few odd bits and pieces of work otherwise, but it's not remotely suitable for somebody who works full time doing something demanding as you do. You can tell your OH that I said so if you like.
Anyway, I was I. The process of sending an email to some nice women and have now being mysteriously enable to put email addresses other than Lydia's in and email 'to' bit.

The ideal budget is smaller :)
    I didn't like the Swoon look ... not comfy/lounging/sleeping sofas :)

Agree with you about that. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

34 years ago today I passed my driving test.

Admittedly, I didn't remember on the day, but 1st August 2001 is mine :-).

Just checked for an email ..... still no curtains to collect. I was kind of expecting to go in there, get/check the curtains (colour), then have an amble around and pick up some curry sauce (only available at Asda as it's their brand) and something nukable for tea!

No curtains = no exciting tea....

I couldn't do it if I was solo.

We couldn't do it if OH didn't have several 'useful skills' . And he 'knows' people who happen to have a trade too.
Even more useful is the new BF of DD is a plumber so he plumbed in the ensuite and laid pipes and stuff at the weekends for a bit of cash.

An example would be that as a carpenter he did all our new roof and joists (and other woody things that go into building a new roof and floors) with a friend (also a carpenter who he knew at school).

The mud was the thing for me...OMG how much mud.

Sarah Beeneys programme about extensions condenses several months of hell into a bite size 45 minutes excl ads.

We did wander about the house before the open day singing that twinky music you get at the end of those shows.

Oh dear, we haven't had Nutella in our house since about 1991 and I have never bought chocolate milk....doesn't it raise their blood sugar to high 1st thing in the morning? They probably would not be impressed with being offered almond milk.

...if you love it it's worth it as you'll keep it for years probably and no-one else will have the same plus you are purchasing from an individual/small business rather than a faceless corporation. Just trying to justify the price :o

I confess, I confess. Watched CBB last night and I am now hooked to 3 weeks of junk telly every night at 10.30pm :( Will record and then watch halfway through so can skim the ads and waffle.

I really understand the mud thing. I have half a back patio today, the main mud may be over shortly after about 18 months, but we still have two dogs.

I watched CBB too, I think?! I saw White Dee pretending to be a duchess. I may have missed a day already, but I think I will delve in. The shortness of it makes it more interesting than the usual one which I think now involves legally imprisoning morons for about 3 years, doesn't it, now?

Nooo....having just spent 10 months cooking with a Lidl mini oven and an Argos 2 ring plug in hob, I can guarantee that nothing compares to a proper oven.
I bought a halogen oven too and it was interesting to use for grilly type cooking.

This is what I have too.

A double oven/ hob that is switched off at the wall, with a 2 ring plug in hob (which my mum bought from Aldi a couple of years ago with the idea of cooking fish outside rather than in the kitchen. It had never been used when it came to me). And now a Currys mini oven (http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/small-kitchen-appliances/small-cooking-appliances/mini-ovens-and-grills/logik-l18mov13-electric-mini-oven-black-20582447-pdt.html). Which if I've spent £25 to decide that I actually really would like to buy an interim cooker, that's £25 well spent!

I also have a panini press and a slow cooker. The slow cooker has yet to be used so maybe that'll fill the cooking appliance gap in my life...

Mini oven's good, even with a full oven. It can still get used for little things, or taking to your parents at Xmas when their oven's going to struggle.

I keep thinking about slow cookers.... I might get one once I've enough slow cooker recipes gathered where you literally open the lid, chuck stuff in, close lid and forget it. Actually, you can do a chicken like that - don't even need any liquid in there. I've been following the thread on it ..... several people have done it/do it, with some variations too.

When you work, though, it can be impossible to use as they do often need pre-browning, or having on high, then turning low ... and then there's the cooking time - if you're out of the house 12 hours it can be ruined (and there's no way I'd trust it on a timer)

    11th December 1995, I passed mine.

I know that sort of deeply useless information, along with other pointless stuff such as debit / credit / passport numbers, etc.
    Me too.
Plus all the registration numbers of cars I have had, birthdays of my 20 nieces and nephews...
I remember my NI number off by heart - and my bank sortcode/account number. Both seem to "spook" people when I'm asked for them and simply pluck them out of midair.
I also know the work bank sort code and account number.
I think I am just about at the limit of my different PIN number recall, though.
    • My current account
    • Joint account
    • Separate account joint with my brothers
    • Work debit card
    • Swimming club account debit card
    • Credit card

I don't write any of them down so need to remember them.
