I have no idea when I passed my driving test. I'm pretty sure it wasn't August though, it was snowing at the time. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? How sure? The weather like it has been the past few days, I almost wouldn't be surprised if it snowed!

Mine was 5 September 1988 - day before Upper Sixth started - but I then had to wait until mid October to get the full licence because of a postal strike for some weeks.I also have a panini press and a slow cooker. The slow cooker has yet to be used so maybe that'll fill the cooking appliance gap in my life...
We're coming up to the slow cooker season - I don't use mine halfway near enough but it's great for doing larger amounts which I can then freeze in single portions and get out of the freezer / defrost in the mwave on a whim.
Although I'd managed to hoover the house before the parents arrived to stay for a few days last week, Mum dusted it from top to bottom (without being asked - I was fairly happy with the dust!) and they both did wonderful things with the weeds and roses which needed to come out in the garden. I'd given up on trying to keep on top of them this year, so it was a lovely bonus. I can empathise with your struggles at times in your house, Nikkster.

I agree with the pre-browning, but if you get one with an auto setting that generally means it turns itself down to low after an hour or so on high. I wouldn't put it on a timer either, but things will keep very happily on low for hours.
Glad to hear the inquest is going more smoothly than expected, Lydia, and that you're getting home early.0 -

PasturesNew wrote: »I am procrastinating ordering the Asda curtains again.... I don't have the confidence that I'll get a set of blue curtains ever ..... looking at the description of the blue ones http://direct.asda.com/George-Home-Woven-Natural-Stripe-Eyelet-Curtains---Various-Sizes/WovenNaturalStripeEyeletCurtainsMASTER,default,pd.html it says "Colour: Natural" ... when I spoke to customer services she said she could see "Colour: Blue" against my order number.... yet I didn't get blue. And, as somebody pointed out, one review said they hadn't received blue curtains, but beige ones, too.
So I figure that maybe the blue photo is a mistake/random photo ... and blue doesn't actually exist; the stores are only full of beige ones.
If you click that link, then add to basket, then go to the basket - the photo changes to beige. If you click the smaller photo in the basket you're taken to a different page to where you started. It says "Colour: blue" there..... but shows beige.
I think there is another link... the link you posted shows blue - add to basket and it looks beige: http://direct.asda.com/george/george-home/george-home-woven-natural-stripe-eyelet-curtains-90-x-90-inches/002010410,default,pd.html
Try this one- I added to basket and it looks blue:http://direct.asda.com/george/george-home/george-home-woven-blue-stripe-eyelet-curtains-90-x-90-inches/002010438,default,pd.html
There are what look like different product codes in the links. The reviews for the 2nd one don't mention anything about wrong colours either. Though it does mention 'trendy' and 'seaside'0 -

Didn't you live in Aus back then? Or does it just never snow there at all? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Advice time: Finally received 2nd quote for front door. Good job I was sat down when I opened it! Ouch.
If it came down to what I was offered, 2nd bloke would get the job - he apparently actually makes the door, which means it can have things like laminated glass and multi-point locking. Which I like the sound of a lot (plus I think there is more scope to avoid offensive glass designs...).
BUT... it took a while to get him here. And phone call to chase the quote. And that's before addressing the pricey quote. 1st door man came round exactly when promised and just generally seemed nice.
So... I am thinking I need to speak to Door man the 2nd. Ask him about the number he's come up with (significantly above the ballpark figure he mentioned when I asked him to come round to quote), and possibly to be blunt and check if he actually doesn't really want the job.
Whilst I like a bargain more than most, I've never actually bartered/ negotiated down a quote. It is expected that I'll try and query the price, right?
I don't really know about bartering. I don't barter with people, I set the margins and it mostly puts food on the table, I don't overprice with expectation of being knocked down, but I'm pretty sure we're different.
Our new front door is a heavy wooden 1930s style door but it came in-frame with multipoint locking, ready painted in cherry red with a letterbox that says 33 on it. We turned the letterbox towards the hall instead of the front garden as we don't live at number 33..
It was new, surplus stock; £200 from eBay, a drive to Lancashire and a nice man to fit it all. It's a lovely front door - well made and tasteful.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I had a blow out on Saturday. The nice tyre man gave me a shiny newish part worn Bridgestone for £25 which made me happy as tthe one that blew was on the way out anyway and they're over £150 each.
My car needs all pads and discs changing. MINI wanted £750. Cousin did the fronts today and painted my brake callipers red, girl racer stylee. Back ones tommorrow. Net saving of £350 and he gets a shiny set of tools. Still expensive!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
