Is that what it takes to get on in financial services, then, cuff links? If only I'd known!
If I have had to wear a suit for some formal occasion, work or social, the first thing I do when I get home is shuck it off, then usually shower and put on pyjamas. I can work perfectly well in pyjamas, although I have to make sure the camera is switched off before using Skype.
I have a friend who used to work in financial services who would reject anyone who turned up to an interview not wearing cufflinks on principle. He works in advertising now, I will have to enquire as to what his policy is these days.
The first thing it do when I get to work is remove cufflinks and roll my sleeves up...0 -

Which is nothing to how he goes in on Mondays ATM.
Dept meeting no longer exists so he sometimes has time for the gym on Monday morning, so he puts shorts on under suit ( lir shakes head with laughter and despair ...fir says,....it saves time) and wears a t shirt or whatever on on top under a hoody. With shirt packed. Leaves jackets in office now.
If no time can go to office and put on shirt and look less streamlined around the thighs and butt. If time can go to gym, then shower there or at office.
There just wouldn't be a female equivalent, no female would just shrug and accept looking "less streamlined around the thighs and butt".
OH generally changes the minute he gets home. Occasionally he will leave his shirt on, if it is already stained. (Grand theory is that if it is going in the general wash it is better not to require special stain care, if already stained it is going to have to be drawn to my attention with the risk of being out of service for longer.)
OH usually wears cuff links. So does DS1, DS2 definitely doesn't, but looking smart for work requires effort from his usual student garb.
Translating from the NPs removal of cuff links, the younger generation put their earring(s) in as they return home. DS1 now tells me he only bothers at the weekend, DS2 the minute he returns home.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We ventured south of the river yesterday evening, to see DS1's new house. Still sharing with 6 friends in a 30s town house. This one was done up by the previous owner before he relocated overseas, so it is kitted out beautifully but practically - solar panels, wet rooms, speakers in the ceiling. Very impressed. He seems happy, the area was much better than I expected. Aside from getting accosted by ticket touts at the station and ear-blasted by police sirens as we walked up the road. We ate in what appears to be a road full of pop-up restaurants, very impressive.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Could be good for you.
I've tried looking at things like that before, more of an exchange of ideas and experiences meet up. So far , they all mention the dreaded word networking and promoting your business. There's only about 10 companies that want me to do what I do, so networking for more business is out. Humbug.

Nooo, can't work in nightwear ever. Feel slobby if I wear leggings after I've been stretching. I think I have a formal gene:o0 -

Long-winded, but that's how it works...... if you can stomach the initial networking and its annoying attendees0 -

I used to be the only person in the office in cufflinks when I started out in the 90s. It's become A Thing again.
My dad used to wear cufflinks to work too.0 -

Cute baby. I like baby's.
It's when they get to 14+ where the real challenges start.Doozergirl wrote: »I found a group of other local business owners. We meet in the pub on a Thursday at 6pm. I've been approached to join such groups. I've never accepted and I'm not sure if I would like it.
I'm too long in the tooth to get excited about "buzz words" and they tend to turn me off, like sales people who wink.
I deal with business owners or senior mangers on the whole and I have built some good long standing relationships. Some I would call close friends, though obviously, business is still business.
On a more serious note.
This is for zag and other breaking bad fans...0 -

I know that it's supposed to be like that, but still everyone in my world knows me already, unless I diversify ( nope), then I'm static.
I like the idea of DGs meet in a pub, whinge about various business stuff and either get a solution or if nothing else a feeling that you are not alone in your boat.
I feel like sss555s, too long in the tooth!0 -
