The funny thing is I thought the other ones looked like motel duvet covers :o. It was all about beds.

I know what you mean. The stripe goes the wrong way for me, don't know why. I think it's the deckchair thing, they always run the stripes up-down.

For the record, my living room curtains also came from John Lewis (and I needed two sets to cover the bay window). http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/sanderson-dandelion-clocks-lined-eyelet-curtains/p1119442?colour=Chaffinch&un_jtt_v_pdp=yes&un_jtt_v_from_product=un_product_3#page_loaded

    Safety in numbers.

Your curtains look uncannily like I'd have expected the Asda ones to look, maggie. Very tasteful. I'm partially amused that Asda ones were bought by a lady from Birmingham who didn't shop in John Lewis and probably has quite dull hair. I still like the curtains though.

Oooo, nice curtains. :) Just checked and they don't seem to do the ones we had any more. :( Bit of a b****r as we still haven't got curtains for the front bay. <roll eyes smilie>

Just checked, and you can still get the fabric. Might have to do some measuring up when we go home, as it would be nice to have same fabric for front of room curtains. Not sure if I'd want to stitch them meself though, brain fog would mean I'd prob cut the fabric wrong. :o Suppose could try get OH to check all measurements, and at least there isn't an up and down pattern that would need matching - vertical stripes are very forgiving in that way! :j But there's the lining too... Though you can get curtain tape that has seperate bits to hook on linings I think - that might work... Hmm, suspect would get the fabric and then "never get around to it". Might have to try and find someone local who would make them up cheaper than JL! (more or less anyone would make curtains up cheaper than JL! )

I still can't get the Asda site to load, I phoned customer services and they say my order says "blue", so I must have ordered the right thing - it's just the confirmation email doesn't click through to the product (and shows a grey colour) - and I'd saved the confirmation page as a PDF and that is clickable but, again, goes through to the base product item..... website fail there then! Not customer fail :)

PN, did you read the one review of the Asda curtains?

The colour on the main picture on website shows curtain as being blue/grey/natural stripe. When delivered it isn't as picture at all, just creams/naturals. Very deceiving picture & disappointment on receipt.
Maybe she didn't really order blue :)

If they're not as nice as the Range ones I can always bung them in one of the bedrooms .... I have three rooms that will want curtains in the coming year.... so it won't hurt if some cheap curtains end up upstairs ..... although it will grate a little that I could have bought cheapER as the upstairs windows are more regular sized at 175x135

Just did a quick trawl on ebay for 90x90 eyelet curtains, and wondered if these would be any use? £34.95 + £4.95 delivery.

That sort were on the list - I'd trawled through a lot of adverts for those curtains, but couldn't find anybody selling that size.... but I have never been sure about the brown bits.

I am still not convinced I bought the right ones. Very confusing site/system.

    <snip>

I just went to the "looks like blue" page and added to basket.... then clicked from the basket and it takes me to the other page (where they look grey, but say blue).

If it says blue they should be blue. If they're not you can get your money back. But I agree the website is over-complicated.

Mind you, the M&S one is more or less un-usable for me now. They support a charity thing called "Give as you live", which gives a proportion of your web spends to your chosen charity for no extra cost to you. Trouble is that to do the "Give as you live" thing you download a sort of flag thing that runs across the top bar, just under the bookmarks bar. And M&S haven't left space for that to run - means I can't reach any of the site searching stuff. Their website designers must be total idiots. Grrrr! :( :rotfl:

At least the Asda site has space at the top for the Give as you live stuff to run!

I do know what you mean, and the colours weren't quite what I'd have picked for you, but close enuff that I thought should at least make the suggestion. :)

Well, so long as the Asda ones are the colour expected.... I'll be happy with what I bought. They're curtains, they go on windows ..... that's all people ever know/see.... anybody visiting won't even realise I have curtains (they'd only notice if I didn't have any), so, ultimately, what I bought, what I paid, is irrelevant.... so it's best to stick as close to the original budget as possible and not seek out "the best curtains EVER".

Lots of professional designers and buyers have also looked at any curtains I'd buy and think "they're nice"... so that's heaps of professionals agreeing they're nice before I get to see them .... and many NPs liked the Asda choice :)

Could any of you ever say you've noticed everybody's curtains every time you've gone anywhere? Or, maybe, just once in a lifetime (when specifically looking round/visiting a new house somebody's moved to) spotted that you liked their curtains.

    :)

I don't give a stuff if they're fairtrade, eco-friendly, organic material made from sustainable materials, providing a twist on a vintage style that'll "pop" at the windows and make my friends go "WOW!, or that benefits small people in African tribes.... it's curtains and I can afford them and they'll look OK at the windows. Job done.

    I've been Money Tipped!

Do I notice or do I care?

Yes, I might notice, but no I don't care. We all have different taste and priority.

Unless their curtains depicted something like praise for bigoted actions or vile behaviours or something I found distasteful it probably wouldn't impact on what I thought of THEM.

I actively like it when people have taste that's not mine. I enjoy being in different surroundings. I love that FC has done so etching totally amazing and totally different to anything I would do. Its so exciting. If I could get to margate I'd be setting off there ASAP. And London!

I do think if we are going to spend money on stuff it should be stuff that makes us happy.

I am HAPPY you have put time into this! like with sofa and bed. And that you are choosing WHAT you want. We all have to make compromises, whatever the budget and options, but choice is a wonderful thing, and making those choices is part of nesting I think. Making the place yours. Knowing they are YOUR curtains! that your np chums chose with you, :D. Is I think better than choosing just the cheapest, because hopefully you can smile when you open them on a grim day and remember ' tee hee' about conversations about pjs v duvets and feel warm and happy about having nested. And created a PASTURES new space.

    Yay PN!

Ashamed to say that sometimes I do notice curtains... Studied William Morris when was at college back in the 70s, so if someone has Morris curtains I tend to notice. Could never afford myself, we had cheapo "slightly Morris looking" curtains that I bought the fabric for at a market back at old home. Might still rescue those, as loads of fabric in them (huge tall windows in Victorian terraced houses! And it's a bay window too...), and could cut them down to make 2 sets of curtains for the music room (:hello: lemonjelly we have a music room too :) ) cos the current ones up in music room were in the extension morning room off the kitchen (now demolished and rebuilt as part of the kitchen) when we bought the house, and though they're well made etc etc I don't like them in the music room. My mock Morris might be better.
