PasturesNew wrote: »I'm still confused about curtain measurements.... just decided to go to the Range and buy curtains, so measured the window. The total window span is 265cm. Curtains I've been looking at have been 229cm .... so a pair would be 458cm. But, I don't like/want/need double the width .... I don't think..... so scared of getting it wrong.... but I think I can look at curtains less wide if a narrower width is nicer/cheaper.
So long as the total width exceeds the gap .... it'll mean they fit. So each curtain, absolute/stupid minimum would need to be 133cm. Meaning that anything, say, 180cm or over "would do".
Why is life so hard?
And now, I guess, I need to measure the drop (yet again).... I really hate being responsible for measuring things accurately in case I "lose" a metre by accident or something.
Edit: Looks like the drop (from top of rail) is 220cm... curtains I'd got in mind are 229cm...... so they'd drag on the floor. Curtains are too hard......
I'll measure it again.... definitely 225cm/86" drop.
The drop is from the top of where the curtain will be to the floor, not from the top of the window. You need at least 1.5 x the width, think that the eyelets cause a wave in the material and that takes width.
Easiest way to shorten curtains is with the iron on hem stuff.
I prefer the Range curtains to Asda, then I appear to be the only one that thinks so, so ignore me when I say they look like pyjamas! This new Dell Inspiron 15 is proving okay for light work. Everything is rather slow, but it does work. Recommended if you want a laptop for £170-odd.
That is what the boys have. DS2 says the keyboard has a really good feel to it. I suspect that you can have builds with more memory etc if you need to wear go-faster stripes. Problem with Dell is that there is a lot of dell carp loaded onto it, that annoys. Not sure if removing it invalidates the warranty. Also the battery and chargers don't last.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Winter birthdays suck.
Both my siblings had summer holiday birthdays.... makes for a better party as the kids invited for tea could usually play outside in the garden, in the sun, rather than being cooped up in the dark.
Mine's an August Birthday, can't say I liked it much. Usually on holiday at Grandparents, just me and Mum as Dad would have gone back to work by then. And since it was holidays all schoolfriends away too. We mostly used to have my "Birthday" party in November, as that way the fireworks would be most of the entertainment and parents wouldn't have to bother with such as party games.PasturesNew wrote: ».... wonder if I need Xmas curtains ..... little santas, reindeers and snowflakes.....

PN, did you read the one review of the Asda curtains?

The colour on the main picture on website shows curtain as being blue/grey/natural stripe. When delivered it isn't as picture at all, just creams/naturals. Very deceiving picture & disappointment on receipt.

I liked them better than the Range ones too, but on reading that review it might be a good idea to try and get to see them before ordering?
We got our living room curtains from John Lewis. Took 2 pairs to cover the bifolds, which was a bit annoying as they cost an arm and a leg, but they do look nice. Your sort of colour scheme too!Living room by ukmaggie45, on Flickr

For the record, my living room curtains also came from John Lewis (and I needed two sets to cover the bay window). http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/sanderson-dandelion-clocks-lined-eyelet-curtains/p1119442?colour=Chaffinch&un_jtt_v_pdp=yes&un_jtt_v_from_product=un_product_3#page_loaded
Safety in numbers.
Your curtains look uncannily like I'd have expected the Asda ones to look, maggie. Very tasteful. I'm partially amused that Asda ones were bought by a lady from Birmingham who didn't shop in John Lewis and probably has quite dull hair. I still like the curtains though.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just did a quick trawl on ebay for 90x90 eyelet curtains, and wondered if these would be any use? £34.95 + £4.95 delivery.0

I could cope with three handsets for now certainly.
People are starting to get cross with me for not answering the phone. Since that lightening.0 -

The funny thing is I thought the other ones looked like motel duvet covers. It was all about beds.
