Abersoch seems to attract more than its fair share of utter idiots! I remember when I was at school in VI form the posh and trendy girls (in other words the ones nothing like me! I was a geek even then) used to come here camping... Last year there was a horrific accident when a presumably drunk bloke fell/jumped off the bridge when there wasn't much water underneath (river tidal at that point). Cue helicopter...
I was fairly horrified to learn OH holidayed here all the time when he was a kid. But back then it wasn't like it became later when I was in my teens. The sailing was the main thing. We respect the sea, and while we've been out in fairly hairy conditions on occasions we are VERY careful - put in more reefs than most folks do (reefing makes the main sail smaller, and not surprisingly you use reef knots to do it!), and always wear personal buoyancy stuff unless it's damn near flat calm. Not that I sail any more, it must be around 15-20 years since I was out in the Duck.PasturesNew wrote: »Our cat came home one day with a long bit of string hanging from his 4rse.... vet said he'd probably found/eaten the remnants (and string surrounding) of a Sunday beef joint.
LOL, our first cat, strangely enough called Silly, was a great thief of food. We were newly married, living in a flat, and close by was a wonderful Kosher supermarket (long closed now), Axelrods. Sunday morning very rare treat was lox and bagels. The smoked salmon was put on the table, still wrapped in the plastic bag it arrived in, OH left the room for all of 30 seconds. Went back in to find cat looking smug, and no sign of the smoked salmon. He'd just swallowed the whole thing, bag and all, as he know time was short! :rotfl:  We never made that mistake again!0 -
Hello Maggie, I didn't realise you lived so close to me! I am on the other side of the peninsular near Nefyn.
TxStill striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

This is relevant to an NP, if it's you, you might spot why.

Dragon's Den - Deborah Meaden offered all the money for 30% of the business. Others weren't impressed and/or thought it risky for a variety of reasons. He accepted Deborah's offer. He got £80k.0 -
I feel your wardrobe pain Lydia.
I need some enough outfits to not get caught wearing the same things too many times in a week. It's for something I've never been to before, but it sounds like everyone dresses quite formally (someone I've never seen wearing a suit is talking about wearing a tie...). I've not been told to dress smart, so I'm guessing I'm generally passable (or that it's felt it's not worth trying!). Doubt there will be the chance to emergency shop during the week in question.
Some success today. Bought a couple of long tops (they're probably supposed to be dresses) in White Stuff. Think that should get me through the week. Needed to get some smart(er) jeans, as mine are on their last legs. I've always gone to Gap since finding they were the by far the best fit years ago. Went in today (first time in a few years). Awful. Horrible material (too thin and stretchy). Horrible cuts (why did they get rid of Long and Lean? I am neither, but they were fab). Bought some jeans that I don't like as I needed something/ anything
Am in the Big Smoke on Saturday before a wedding, so I think that instead of wafting round Tate Modern looking intelligent, I'll be running around trying to find a decent pair of jeans and getting depressed.
Scooted into Ikea on the way home - NP without a full set of curtains might (or might not) be interested to know that they sell some stick up blinds: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20242282/0 -

Saw that, was impressed with the kid, but the whole programme format is getting stale.

They're for sticking up and leaving ..... not for long-term up/down all day like I'd need.....
I really need to get at least my big windows sorted out .... daren't go away/leave the house without those being fitted as it's a security issue having big windows exposed night/day.0
