It's not too bad as it's a promotion in the same company, so he knows the culture and a lot of the people. It is in a different building though.
Still a new boy feeling..has to find out where the toilets are and where to hang his coat up.
As it is his first day, can you take him in and hand him over to who ever is in charge?
A nice gesture I have seen, has been for the newly moved in internal promotee after a week or so to bring in a tin of biscuits and leave a note on them..Please help your self, I may not have had a chance to say hello yet as it as been holiday season, I look forward to saying hello in person. Helps dispel myths and legends, new boy has a bit of control about reputation...0 -

I had a dog once that tried to commit suicide by lasagne.
Made two very, very large pans of it and left it on the counter to cool.
Came back to find two empty pans on the floor, remnants of tin foil stuck in the dog's mouth, and the dog with a belly so distended it literally could not get up off the ground.
Damn thing ate the lot..... Tinfoil and all.
Had to take her to the vet.
Who couldn't stop laughing.....
And charged me a small fortune to keep her overnight 'for observations'.
Have to admit I laughed the next day when I arrived to pick her up....
Vet was no longer smiling and noted he'd never had a dog poo that much in his facilities before.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

And this explains what they're all about....

Returned Serviceman's League....
They have a network of clubs which operate on a semi-commercial basis for the use of local branch members and the general public can join as members.
Cheap-ish food and drink, and family facilities, gaming, community events, etc.
It's sort of the Aussie version of the Royal British Legion.... But with much better facilities.
That's it.

I never face a cooked breakfast. So that is one problem solved.
Nor me. I like most of the stuff that happens in cooked breakfasts (including tinned tomatoes), so I have many times in the past tried eating them, but I have always regretted it. My metabolism just isn't happy with eating that quantity of food at that time in the morning. I can manage a light breakfast without ill effects if necessary, but left to myself I would choose not to eat until a bit of a snack about 11am, with the main food intake happening at lunchtime and/or in the evening.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Tired. Don't want to start packing. Need to put a load of washing in soon or DD will have no clean underwear while I'm away. Still not entirely sure how much my dad is going to be looking after my kids and how much they're going to be looking after him.
Have decided on two pairs of trousers to take - one pair charcoal grey and one pair navy. Have a selection of plain coloured jersey tops, but only one cardigan. Need more cardigans. Will have to go shopping while I'm there, I think. The jackets I generally wear to work probably would't look right. Will report back tomorrow evening on what everybody else wears.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Weather forecast is for October so perhaps you should even add a sweater. I have no desire for food in the mornign then feel starvign between 10 and 11. Getting old I find a large lunch sends out such a strong 'now it is time to sle.....' signal that I really shouldn't.I think....0 -

i've been to the bankstown one 5 or 6 times cos a mate who moved out there lives reasonably close. it reminds me a bit of a slightly tired vegas casino. quite like it though - a reasonable enough place to have a cheap dinner and a load of jugs of beer afterwards...0 -
Not sure I've tried tinned plum tomatoes. I will give them a go.
Edit. Just checked the cupboard, and I have tried tinned large plum tomatoes that have been peeled. Why do they take the skins out? Surely that's the most nutritious part?
I hate the skins if I find any in the tins.... peeled one off this morning. I also cut off the bit where the tomato joins the vine. I pick out each tomato from the tin by sliding a fork in close to that bit - then I slice round the stem part with a knife ... and discard the top bit.0 -
