Is there a DFS near you? They might have a sale on. Oh look, they do. Quelle surprise!

Just looking .... the problem is that whatever "style" you like in your 30s is probably what you like/want/expect for life .... and 20+ years on it's no longer available :)

Their cheapest is £299 in the sale. http://www.dfs.co.uk/all-sofa-beds/3-seater-sofa-orla-plain - lots of measurements on there to compare against what I'm lying on right now.

The store is 11 miles away, next nearest is 22 miles.

Out of curiosity, just checked Cornwall and there's not one in the whole county!

And at the other end of Timmy Mallet and Sue Pollard's living room is this sofa:

which is a lot easier on the eye than the one from Ikea, even if there's no way I'd have it in my house.

I just want a sofa...it's not a "twist" or a "statement", it's not got to contend with kids/dogs, it's not got to have people saying "wow" when they see it ..... it just needs to be a 3 seater, with 2 cushions, quite low arms (and back) .... a good seat "depth", be available in some lighter/easy on the eye colours .... and under £300 preferably .... I sort into price order - and then price up the first one that's "OK/acceptable" ... I don't get sucked into scanning further down to spot things that look a bit nicer .... as then the price is double and it still serves the same purpose (you sit on it).

    :)

Oh - and here within a week of ordering it.

I'll measure my current cushions as this one's comfy for depth.... they're 70cm deep.

I just found you what I thought was a lovely and well made sofa in your price range on eBay PN. Then I noticed that the £140 that I thought was a bargain was for the cushion covers only. Oops. Please excuse me, I have a drawing board to get back to.

Yeah, lots of "cons" like that - typically also found on the Ikea site..... there's a sofa on there at about £250, but when you pick the colour you're adding the covers onto it and it pops up priced at £540! In fact, the Ikea site makes it difficult to find the sofas as a lot of what look like sofas are just the covers!

Also, footstools costing more than I'd want to spend on a whole sofa! The world's gone mad :)

Aren't these often made to order? So, take more than a week. Big things to keep in stock, unless you are Ikea.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yes and no. While they seem to fit, I actually dislike that style.... but it's hard, these days, to find different.

I should see if I can dig out a photo of what I had. I sold the last ones after 17 years on ebay ... so got photos.

The flatpack crew is quite a neat idea as they've really just got about 10 items + the different fabrics.... so they ship the next day. When you choose different arms, all the arms fit the sofas ..... so they just send out a different "arms" box.

Better to have longer in delivery time for right thing, than have wrong thing come on a week....but have that week start later because you are worrying, and then live with thinking you could have done better.

Fwiw, none of our sofas are new, not one.

You could get one for a tenner free ads, ( any local one) sort out cheapest man and van delivery then look for right one at better leisure. I know its not what you want but it seems less stress ful way to make decision?
