50SOG is an interesting book. Normally one gets a 40+ woman who approaches a staff member in hushed tones, shuffling their feet and looking slightly embarrassed, asking where they can find it. It is also very popular with men in their 70s and upwards. It has launched a whole new genre. The copycat books almost all have black or dark grey covers and a similar font. Like this one:

But hey, if it gets people into the library, or into books, that can only be a good thing. Dan Brown had a similar effect on men in their 40s (except they were not as embarrassed to ask).
Similarly teenage books would sit on the shelves gathering dust. Then came teenage vampires followed swiftly by the Hunger Games and Divergent and it is now one of the hottest categories. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Teenage books, that reminds me. Can't remember if I asked, lir, did you ever read My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece by Annabel Pitcher or Wonder by RJ Palacio? Similar sorts of books to the Fault in Our Stars. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If you have any colleagues in the medical profession, there used to be (maybe still is) a trade magazine, Punch for Doctors, which used to do spoof BMJ articles which were much more hilarious than this, albeit fictional.
It contained adverts for drugs and wasn't available to the general public, but it was much funnier than Punch magazine. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I didn't bit I might now. I read we are all completely beside our selves as part of a gluttonous book feast this week, which was worth it. The girl with glass feet left me cold though, though it had elements I should love. I think i had book indigestion maybe? Client left chick lit here, may be I should consider that a Twinkie.
Normally best cure for reading indigestion I think is genre swap. My brain doesn't handle non fiction so well anymore, but that's what I need probably0 -

Not sure why one is needed...but it is OK, I am fine not knowing. Usually DG/LiR help me out with an explanation of such things...but I am fine, honest.
Are you me? I think you must be.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That's the only possible way the press knew about a plain clothes search, and the allegation which lead to it.

This is Ikea's sofa for people who can't decide which colour they want. Only £155, but you'd need to pay for delivery as well. It's one of their top sellers, too. You'd need to check whether it is big enough to sleep on, but very probably it is.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I don't like the whole Americanisation of the police force that we appear to be undergoing. If there is evidence that suggests wrongdoing against CR I would like the police to investigate it, but I don't need to know and the BBC did not need to be on hand. I understand that there may be a need to release names in order that others come forward, but surely there needs to be some evidence gathered first.
For that matter, I don't like the political element, with the election of Police Commissioners either. I understand that there may be structural elements that need addressing, but I don't believe this is the way forward.
And don't get me started on the details in the US of Robin Williams's death. His family should be allowed some peace and dignity. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If you use the word 'dignity' with someone under the age of 30 then generally they'll look at you like you're an idiot.
That's something that's gone. The camera has the power, if you don't want to be filmed that's tough.0
