Surely not still sunny michaels. We're definitely mid storm now. Thunder and lightning.

Nope, sun beating down here now

There may have been a thunderstorm in the interim.....

I would choose the next size up from a yaris if I had to take the odd long motorway journey.
    I think....

I am overly qualified to talk about both of these things. It's just not worth putting yourself through that opening ceremony. I'd rather just stare at the wall.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I think I am spared looking for dresses.

Neither parent is in the country for fir's thingy, the two other people I go to first cannot dog/ house sit and neither can the vet nurses. I feel being relieved is not the healthy reaction here.

I suspect what I ate was genuine goat. Yesterday was clearly a Big Deal and a lot of effort had been gone to.

The car I really, really want is an Audi A1. I love Audis, have a really old one (that you met) and it is still going. Have had it from new and don't see any point in replacing it while it still starts every time and motoring is largely trouble-free. It's an A4 though and way bigger than I need given that there are only two of us. In short I want something with:

    5 doors
    Air-con
A more economical engine than I have
A cabin that's not too cramped
Space for cases when we go away (there's only two of us, so small boot plus back seats is fine)
Petrol engine (I don't do diesel)
    Reliable and well rated

Also it can't be ugly. I think that the A1 has a bigger engine than the Yaris or Auris and therefore better for longer runs (1.2l vs 1.0). The one make I won't buy is Vauxhall. I have had two - the second thinking lightning couldn't strike twice - and they were both nothing but trouble.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

    Many Happy Returns, Chewy!

You are over a year younger than I am, so I will be sparing with my sympathy. There are a lot of us of similar ages, though - you, me, Doozer, LIR, lemon, Lydia all within a few years in age, I think. With Nik bringing up the rear as the baby of the group (-:

I'm flattered that you included me in that list. :) I have a mere 8 days and 8 and a bit hours left of being 44.
Interesting one on Heir hunters. Widower with kids married a woman in 1954, then he died in 1975. Woman then died 25 years later.... kids say there was a will, but solicitors gone out of business and no trace of the will .... so they can't have the money.

Hope all NP have got wills and have informed their executors where the will is.
Nikkster's on the edge of her seat ... wondering.....

Got my deposit back from where I was living. Deposit returned in full.
I didn't expect that as I expected them to deduct a £75+VAT check out fee.

    So .... LOADED!!!

And I definitely owe Nikkster a free weekend at the seaside, with dinner included, for her help :)

    Cheers Nikkster!!

Yay! :T (Although I was certain they wouldn't be able to find any reason for deducting anything.)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

I don't have a will. I'm not planning on leaving anything to the cats home, so I'd be happy for it all to pass to my parents (should I go first) or my brother.
Should my circumstances change, I'll look at getting a will made up then.

Thanks for flagging up PN's post - I'd missed that! I had definitely been wondering though :)

:j Excellent news PN. The chips/ pie/ pint is on you then
Even better that they didn't deduct their[STRIKE] rip off[/STRIKE] admin fee too.

Short term most of us can plan and for example make sure NP spouses are where they should be..Mr S went to Moscow yesterday...home later:)

I think Mr Silvercar and Dr Tifosi also travel a fair bit.

Ash Clouds and 9/11 - world scale urgent issues are difficult as short term, people end up in the wrong place. Post 9/11 we were very lucky in that OH was home (travelled a lot to US in those days), but US colleagues could not get home, some colleagues on their way toa world conference..spent a week in Bander (Newfoundland) and post Ash Cloud a friends three generation, party of six, long weekend in NY ended up being almost a fortnight and having to move out of NY due to lack of accommodation/cost

If it stretches the displacemnt and when commerce and freight are affected for longer will be interesting

I wonder if I will soon be attempting to provide remote lessons to boarding students who can't get to the UK for the start of term?

At the risk of sounding repetitious, I'm still really bloody tired.

I slept in until gone 7am this morning. Then I slept for 40 minutes at lunchtime and I slept on the bus on the way home. Now it's 9:10pm and I'm zonked again. Aaargh!

Be as repetitious as you like. :) You said that at your last appointment you were told the tiredness would take another couple of months to go. Do please take it easy. If you do too much too soon you'll delay the moment when you're fully better.

In case any NP would be interested..I've lost 1st and 3lbs over the past couple of months....really happy with, still some way to go..

    Well done Wheezy!

I have a BMW series 1. It is all of the things you are looking for. It is a bit too sporty for me, but my OH and DD really like driving it.

Mine is automatic but has a number of driving style options..nit that I trouble them.
