Just went for a few drinks with the sister and her boyfriend, really nice chap. Like him a lot. He's obviously keen to make a good impression, and since he's not the kind of nobhead lad she's gone for before I'm very nice to him :D Has a good job, does triathlons.

It's nice seeing them together actually. She can be a bit 'reticent' my sister, but he obviously brings out her confident side.

    I approve anyway!

Yeah. I need to take a couple of months off to recover. I can't though so work has to put up with 6 months of me below par before I leave in Jan. Then I reckon I have another 18-24 months until I can do something less pointless with my life than working for idiots like this.

I'm quite angry at the moment.

I'm angry too, on your behalf.:mad::mad:

Shredded paper... my shredder's close to full. Not emptying it today, but it'll need doing soon/sometime. So, if I have shreddings in the shredder .... I am guessing it's best to empty those into a paper bag, then at the recycling centre lob the whole lot in the "paper" skip.

It's so complex overall. When is something paper, when is it cardboard, when is it a directory, when is it none of these. And plastics - what's a plastic - I've a milk bottle and a thick bleach bottle.... presumably both plastics.... I know plastic microwave food trays aren't plastic because the skip says no to those..... too hard for mere mortals.

Our recycling centre has one bin for cardboard, one for "paper", which means unshredded paper, and one for shredded paper.

So, my 30+ bags are slowly but surely being transported to parent land, where they still do green waste.

My dad's kerbside recycling takes all sorts of plastics, whereas ours only does plastic bottles. His also does aluminium foil pie dishes and Chinese takeaway dishes etc. We collect "Grandpa recycling" on top of the fridge and give it to him whenever we go there or he comes here.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    You don't like bacon?
I had no idea such people existed!

Me neither. I'd assumed it was a human universal, Al Murray does a sketch where he uses bacon to prove the existence of God.

We must never discuss it too much as many people deny themselves bacon but it's best to respect their willpower and not to remind them of their sacrifice. :)

I'd originally been thinking of something like this: http://www.farrow-ball.com/vert-de-terre/colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/100234
But then someone at one of the Ideal Home type places mentioned that it was very 'in' at the moment and I went off it :) And I keep noticing it on front doors.

I'm now thinking of this type of colour: http://www.littlegreene.com/turquoise-blue

There is waaay too much choice.

I like the second one. :)

    I missed it. :(

Could you post it elsewhere for longer than half an hour, perhaps, or email it to me, or something. (I assume you've still got my email address.)

Although under 4 years old, now I'm here I can see quite a lot of the white gloss is yellowing/ageing.... so, although I bought to not do anything, I suspect within 2 years I will have to tackle the white gloss .

If it's yellowing, that means either previous occupant smoked heavily or it is oil based gloss that was used. Smoke yellowing will wash off. Oil based can be painted over with undercoat and water based paint. Water based is easier to use as you can just was your brushes out and dries more quickly, but does need to be prepped properly. It is easy though. If you are glossing, beware cheap paint brushes as they shed. Better to buy a couple of decent ones.

One afternoon as I reached the car in the staff car carpark, a loud 'bang' on the window of the next car caused me to look round and into the vehicle. The heel of a shoe had just hit the window. Two 'colleagues' were enjoying each others company:)

Doesn't count, not on the public highway.
AIUI, there is a law in India forbidding more than 4 people from being on a moped or motorbike at once. Worryingly, the law is sometimes broken.... (I've seen Dad + Mum + 3 kids + baby on a moped with my own eyes in Delhi)

    Doesn't count, different country.

Phew... my hat is safe for a little longer.

I think it's yellowing, but maybe it's just Builders' Shade... a bizarre version of an off white known only to builders. Who knows

    It's not fag yellow.
