I have read this out to my beloved husband.

    Poor Mr. Spirit.

The way you described it was absolutely hilarious though :rotfl:

I posted last week about a disappointing BBC Mojito recipe.

Made up my own tonight..much better.

A big bunch of mint - leaves only. One lime in eight wedges, two dessert spoons caster sugar. Puddle this lot in a jug with a wooden spoon. Add a tray of ice - crushed. Add a large slug of white rum and an equal amount of soda water.

Serves two. Or one greedy person who resents sharing.:D

This has distracted me from the gin and cuc/spiced rum and coke.

I am so happy at present. I feel like I am on holiday.:)

It was as he said it...very funny.

All afternoon I have broken out in giggles.

He is lovely but so accident prone...he had been up a ladder and a neighbour had already spoken to him a few minutes earlier, advising him to take care.

His nether regions have something of a 'Tom Jones' look about them. An improbable tan and a too youthful hair dye.

Talking of creosote, I liberated MIL's DAB radio from her house. Once I got it home, I realised how much it stank of stale tobacco. The whole thing was covered in a thick tarry residue. It took me half an hour to sponge it all off with soapy water. That poor radio had had nearly ten years of passive smoking. I'll check in the morning whether cleaning it has done the trick.

I threw the cloth away afterwards. No wonder MIL had COPD. Her lungs must have been black!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Just done a spot of editing / deleting.

Couple of bits to catch up on...
Thanks for the pointers re cookers doozergirl. Howdens one sounded interesting, but I'd still need stuff installing and old one getting rid of. Also though gas boiler it's next to it, current cooker is all electric. If I end up butting a whole proper cooker I think I'll have to pay the extra for installation and disposal of old cooker.

Regarding my other gripes - no point in causing a fuss. I expect it's felt that my contribution wasn't significant. Fair enough, but I don't think I need to hear that! I'm lucky I've found a half decent job in a vaguely related but different area, so it doesn't particularly matter from that point of view.
    Life goes on :)

    It's nice they're coming along.
What'll you be adding to your repertoire next year?

Oh, and in response to Lydia's question - I met up with my friend who lives next to Harry Potter yesterday. We thought we'd make the most of being [STRIKE]childless spinsters[/STRIKE] footloose and fancy free to make loose plans to meet up and see where the day took us. We met up much later than planned as we both failed to get going and out of the door, looked in a couple of shops, ate a lot of Thai food (washed down with a bottle of Thai wine), then went for a very leisurely walk (with plenty of pauses). A quick drink, then we made our ways back home.
Was lovely. Very chilled out. Though it was hot, hot, hot!

No idea. Still have some seeds left, but mainly what I manage to source from the reduction shelves I guess! Courgettes for sure :)

I spotted my first potato today too. Is a bit green as it was poking out of the earth, but there's definitely something going on :) the potato plants look a right old state. When it was quite windy a few weeks ago, they all got blown over. My dadtold me he didn't think I'd get a good crop as there was too much foliage (apparently he had a job picking potatoes when he was young... Never knew that before!). But I'm hopeful that I'm going to get something, the plants are definitely still alive, just growing kind of sideways.

I used to like digging up new spuds because of the variety of sizes one root would yield.... there'd be the usual spud sized ones, right down to one the size of a fat pea.

I was just surprised to see an actual potato! Though I guess it could have been of the seed potatoes I planted...
If I do potatoes again next year, I think I'll try one of those potato sack things. And everything will be spaced out a whole lot better!
