Why?
I have never been to a car boot sale.
A few months ago DD was suggesting that she might 'do' one to off load some[STRIKE] treasured possessions[/STRIKE] carp. I wanted to be supportive as she can find letting stuff go abit tricky, but supportive does not extend to me going to a car boot sale.
They sound vile. Going entirely on hearsay and an unjustifiable snobbery but they sound really grotty.
Some are brilliant.
Spirit, its like shooting. Some days you bag nowt and converse with boring farts, some days you come home with superb birds, and having had great conversation with people you've been delighted to meet, and seen wonderful things.0 -
....they sound really grotty.
They are now. Before they were a treasure trove of well-priced items that could be bought for reasonable/cheap prices. Now they're just grubby carp people are trying to offload at premium prices.
There is a local auction house here, with a weekly household goods auction. I went on the viewing day about a month ago, full of high hopes ... that, too, was a pile of grubby and broken tat. The furniture was grubby/broken/stained, the other goods were carelessly strewn and grubby and horrid and broken. Nasty place. I guess the sort of place where you might find one "gem" if you went religiously every week .... for months.
I think, too, that it's best never to go to look for something specific, as you won't find it .....
By the time you've paid fuel and entry costs for 2-3/week for a month, you might as well have gone out and bought what you need from Argos/Ikea/wherever sells stuff cheap (but new).0 -
I'm harvesting some of our lavender today.
I'm glad we got different sorts, the bunches look so incredibly different.
Some have gone rather over.
I have a long way to go, but doing it one variety at a time.0 -
That will be me then.PasturesNew wrote: »My bathroom and loo floors are black slate, the grout has a sprinkling of glitter (I kid you not). Above the sink splashbacks there is a narrow strip of tile like small beach pebbles in a mix of grey, white, black.
Do you think we might have been house mates there spirit?
Glitter in grout sounds not too bad. Its not like grout is that attractive in its own right. Why not let it wear some glad rags?0 -

Mid-week, any day, any time.
Anybody? Or am I now the only one fit to travel/bother?
Yep, I'm up for it.0 -
They're runner beans. She who shops from the reduction shelf has a limited selection (beggars and choosers and all that). Will be aiming to pick before they get too stringy.
I noticed the glittery grout. I liked itI also found the bathroom tap tricky. Nevermore splashing the sink, I got the floor too

My bathroom tap, chosen by us, gets the wall out side bathroom if you don't know it and have left the door open. We're going to some kind of restrictor fitted.0

Is that all you need to do? Cut it off and tie it upside down? For how long do you leave it? Then what? I have 2 overgrown bushes that gather bees too near the BBQ area.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I must say, the glitter is rather nice.... subtle.... and I like it. I'd recommend it - and I'm not a "bling" type of person. It cheers up what would otherwise be an uninspiring strip of dark stuff, or white that needed fine cleaning regularly.0 -

Do you have to harvest it?
What happens, or not, if you don't?
What'll you do with it?0
