We got up at 7am today and went to a big car boot sale. Suffice to say I won't be doing that again, not unless I want to buy 200 obviously stolen second hand power drills from a white van.

I think they're designed to come out in a spray .... rather than because it's clogged. I might take a small screwdriver to the sides/edges of it a bit later ... having blocked up the abyss so it doesn't disappear down the plughole if it suddenly springs free.

The trouble with trying to take anything apart is - it's easy once you know if you should have turned, twisted, pulled, levered, popped, or banged it .... and by how much force. Up to the point where you have a good result, or a breakage, you don't know how it'll go :)

Often I am doing the right thing, but not applying enough force as I'm too scared to give it an extra shove in case I'm doing it wrong and it'll just break.

I don't know why they fit these grilles, anyway. I just dug mine out with a small screwdriver, and the problem was solved. Just because the taps may have been designed originally with these in does not mean that you need to retain them.

They may have been designed originally to stop toddlers getting fingers stuck, which is obviously not an issue for you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Should have read my post from last Sunday warning that they're no longer any good ...... there's nothing worth having at all. They used to be good, not now.

I went and thought about mine ... then wondered if it's dropped into the aperture when the tap's off its fixings..... so I didn't attempt to prise it out.

I thought the reason they did it might be eco-related... with a spray giving you a wider water area, so you use less water for most things.

Edit: Just had a go with a screwdriver, it didn't work.... so I've taken some photos so I can see in close up what it looks like.

Edit 2: Photos are too close/dark/indistinct.... I'll have another go.

Edit 3: No, no good. I'd reversed the camera, but then you don't get a flash; I need to use the camera in the usual way that enables the flash to work.... trouble with that is it's hit/miss what you're photographing as you can't see. I'll leave it for now.

As yet, I've not been overrun by courgettes, but I'm still hopeful.

I have quite a few courgettes in the fridge...and more that need picking.

I also have my first home grown cucumber. It really is delicious...the best cucumber I have ever tasted:o

Cucumbers are definitely on the list of things to grow each year, like courgettes and runner beans.

One of the tomato plants is looking a bit sick, so OH reptted it and took off the limp leaves. We will see what happens.

Lettuces are finished now, and I did not succession sow. Have put some more seeds in, but will be buying lettuce for a few weeks.

    Oooh.... you cheapskate :)
I'd have expected the price of your taps to have three digits in them, not just two!

Sighs! Why? Anyway they were there when we arrived, so I didn't have a clue what they cost.

We have been out choosing tiles for the new downstairs toilet. Apparently grey is the new brown. So dark grey floor, light grey walls, dark grey little tiles for feature wall (who knew that downstairs toilets needed feature walls?)

My only input is choosing the sink. I have chosen a sink that extends to be the worktop that covers the cistern and pipes too, so no joins and gaps to gather dirt. It extends the full width of the wall so no little corners that are difficult to clean.

Check that there's not a scale build up in the spout as that can force the water down a different route to that designed for the tap if it has been allowed to build up long enough. You should be able to scrape it out with a screwdriver, or dip a cloth liberally in Viakal and pop it into the spout bit. Alternatively, if you have one of those griddy bits over the end of your tap spout, it should unscrew and see whether that improves the flow. If not, try leaving it in a bit of Viakal, or pricking out with a pin.

From the sound of previous occupants, they probably didn't look for that kind of stuff and its an easy, no cost, fix if that's where the problem lies.

    That will be me then.

My bathroom and loo floors are black slate, the grout has a sprinkling of glitter (I kid you not). Above the sink splashbacks there is a narrow strip of tile like small beach pebbles in a mix of grey, white, black.

I've had a couple of cucumbers from my mini cucumber plant. Delicious. Nothing yet from my normal sized cucumber plant, but there is still time. Think it might be time to harvest my two aubergines (expect pics), and I noticed this morning that I have my first little baby runner beans developing
    :j

    Expect lots of pics!

    Why?

I have never been to a car boot sale.

A few months ago DD was suggesting that she might 'do' one to off load some[STRIKE] treasured possessions[/STRIKE] carp. I wanted to be supportive as she can find letting stuff go abit tricky, but supportive does not extend to me going to a car boot sale.

They sound vile. Going entirely on hearsay and an unjustifiable snobbery but they sound really grotty.
