Finding a tunnel to sit in sounds quite appealing tbh!

Just hold onto the thought that in (just) 10 hours' time you could be sitting in your garden, on a stripey chair in front of your shed, clutching a hot mug of tea and with a nice tomato sandwich (your tomatoes?) admiring your house/garden knowing it's (finally) the weekend!

[QUOTE=PasturesNew;661030411 litre = 1.75 pints. Big blokes like to drink lots of pints. I'd say 3 litres per big bloke for each day. Little women don't like beer. I'd say 0 litres per little woman. Butch women like beer. I'd say 1 litre per butch woman per day. That just leaves "the rest" who will drink anything.

Top tip: Only let them know about 2/3rds of the stash, keep the rest in the boot of the car. Then, if/when you run out, offer to drive to get more - take the car and park up the road for an hour or so .... then drive back. They'll continue drinking at a slower pace as they feel guilty and don't want you to have to go out again.

    :)[/QUOTE]

    Good tip :)

I'd not really thought of myself as butch, but I can drink more than 2 pints.
Kind of depends on how long they are likely to be drinking for, how heavy drinkers they are, and whether there are alternatives on offer....

I usually take at least a bottle with me when I go places (unless I know that the host is a definite non-drinker). If my host has also provided something that is a bonus.

Dh isn't really a beer drinker and is pleading ignorance.

This is crazy. If he doesn't know, how are you supposed to?

You can make a risk analysis. What happens if you run out? What happens if you have too much?

Since you clearly don't normally drink the micro-brewery products, you probably don't want any of that left over. So, can you buy a minimum quantity of that, so you can be sure none will be left over, but also hold a large reserve of stuff you do normally drink? That seems to be the best bet compromise between not running out and not being left with a mountain of vile stuff you can't even give away.

I know you are on the wagon at the moment, so just hold in reserve whatever DH and Big Dog normally drink. :D
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

by women's magical hosting powers, obviously!

DH likes to drink cocktails, or thinks with algae in them. He's kinda on the wagon with me. RP drinks.

I asked one of the people coming who does know, but he was being terribly polite. I think I 'll have to wait till they get here and take orders or nab one of them to come with me for fifteen minutes.

Catering for unknown others is always a nightmare (I've heard) ... if you feel compelled to provide them with stuff you don't normally ever have/use, then you run the risk of being stuck with it .... maybe for years.

Declare the house under Sharia Law for the weekend and no alcohol will be consumed :)

Re beer. If there are no drivers, 2l/person is probably a good starting point.

Probably better to have too much and keep it in the cupboard than to run out.

I know the type of bed I want, and it's this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1380688.htm

Now - that's not a full bed, so I'd still need a mattress ... and, ideally, I'd have liked to have spent that much on the WHOLE bed.

I don't like black, but really don't like the look of most modern beds anyway, so colour is irrelevant.

I just want a bed. Has to be a double because my current bedding is double; my current bedding isn't special, but it does exist, so no point going through other sizes of bed and having to find/choose/buy all new stuff.

Can any NPs suggest/find anything that would make for a better price/deal than the one I've linked to, on the basis that I've made this choice because:

a] It's new and from Argos, so a known retailer
b] It's cheapish (but is it as cheap as I could get?)
c] It provides me with bed storage without it being annoying drawers

I'm easy to please when it comes to shopping. It's not about what I like, it's about spending the least possible :)

If this one is deemed to fit my needs/can't be beaten ... then I'd order it today.

While we don't want to keep up with the Joneses... it's also important to never be "The Road Peasant" :)

When we moved in, and had a couple of boxes on our living room windowsill and no curtains, one of our neighbours said we made the place "look like a council estate".

He came home with an "interesting" African table piece. I politely said how nice it was. Oops, it wasn't for me. My emotions went in quick succession: Phew, sad, amused, neglected.

Was there gratitude for rescuing him?

    Opinions please....

Ex hubby has asked for me to send copies of the boy's birth certificates but without a clear explanation as to why he wants them (gave one reason to me but a completely different one to eldest)....what would you do?

Agree with the rest - he could shell out for copies, so there's not much point being difficult about it. They don't "belong" to your sons exactly - it isn't up to them if people have copies or not, as anyone could get copies. They are public record documents.

I wouldn't buy that style. Imagine how heavy that is with the mattress on top. To access the storage you would need to lift the whole thing up with one hand whilst you rummage away with the other.

Above your price point, but with a mattress:

The irony is that in London a lot of £700-900k housing WAS council. I had a friend who was living in St George's Fields - ex-council, but they go for more than a pretty penny these days!
