Opinions please....
Ex hubby has asked for me to send copies of the boy's birth certificates but without a clear explanation as to why he wants them (gave one reason to me but a completely different one to eldest)....what would you do?
He could buy them from the GRO for £9.25. So only be obstructive if it is worth it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I am getting it from local micro brewery, they have those bottles ( cannot thing of name, each contains just over two litres) .
There are two or three types of beer, a pale ale they do only in summer, a more traditional one ( bitter) and maybe a third....dunno....
How many people would two litres do? How many types should I get? ( you get to keep the plastic faux olde worlde bottles and it reduces the price on refills. I have two to take back for refill.
Ah, a question about which I know nothing. My answer is entirely fabricated.
1 litre = 1.75 pints. Big blokes like to drink lots of pints. I'd say 3 litres per big bloke for each day. Little women don't like beer. I'd say 0 litres per little woman. Butch women like beer. I'd say 1 litre per butch woman per day. That just leaves "the rest" who will drink anything.
Top tip: Only let them know about 2/3rds of the stash, keep the rest in the boot of the car. Then, if/when you run out, offer to drive to get more - take the car and park up the road for an hour or so .... then drive back. They'll continue drinking at a slower pace as they feel guilty and don't want you to have to go out again.0 -

The black/white answer is: they're his kids as much as yours - and he could just go and get copies for himself from the records office ... so just do it. He will probably expect the Spanish Inquisition ... so when you don't give him that you've scored a point.0 -
Thanks Silvercar....I can't give him James' one anyway as that is now his property and it is his permission which is needed (plus the fact it is sitting in storage 140 miles away).
Josh is also reticent about his being copied and sent and as he is 18 in just a few months and almost an adult, I don't really want to ride roughshod over his opinion.
Youngest doesn't care either way....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Is this for the big party with loads of DH's pals? In that case, he should know better than us. For some parties, the question would be how many two litre bottles you need per person, rather than how many persons per bottle.
Dh isn't really a beer drinker and is pleading ignorance.0 -

Yes, could do that, of course. No idea where I would find anybody who wanted to do that, though. The reason we don't go on holidays (apart from to this event that lots of our friends go to, and to stay with friends/family) is because we have nobody to go on holiday with, and I'm too extroverted to enjoy a holiday that didn't include any adults for me to talk to.lemonjelly wrote: »Fair enough that. Is it not something that could be negotiated? Or is it not something becoming of the village IYSWIM?
I don't blame them really. I live on the end of a row of very well maintained houses with beautifully manicured front gardens, and my caravan is about 40 years old and very very scruffy. Fortunately my house does not have a front garden as such - just a tarmac drive that I can't let the side down too badly with.chewmylegoff wrote: »Alternatively blame the heavy snow.

Hmmm. What do your boys think? James is an adult, so it's up to him whom he allows to have a copy of his birth certificate, and the others are old enough to know their own minds too. I would certainly ask him to clear up the confusion and explain why he gave different reasons to you and James.
But actually, if you don't send him copies, he can just buy them, so there's no point in refusing. Do you have any objections to either of the reasons he's given so far?
ETA Perhaps I should have read to the end of the thread before answering that one! X-posted with most of the NP, I think.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I wouldn't say it is James' /Josh's property as you probably bought them and birth certificates are a public record. If you want to say they own the piece of paper now, as you have passed ownership to them, that sounds a bit technical. Thanks everyone for your opinions, grr, between a rock and a hard place as I don't want to overrule the opinions of James and Josh but then I don't want to appear difficult and obstructive either! We made it! Do the boys know that copies can be bought anyway as mentioned by others here? If I were them that would change my feelings a lot. I'd still want to know why they were wanted though, mind you.0 -

Finding a tunnel to sit in sounds quite appealing tbh!0
