Street party is an annual event and very competitive (in the friendliest possible way) with the surrounding streets....
I thought it was something about average parents height and add 2 inches for a boy and subtract 2 for a girl?
DW and DDs have gone with my aunt to an outdoor dance show in Milton Keynes so lets hope the thunderstorm holds off for another hour or so in Beds.I think....0 -
Odd day here.
OH had severe back pain about midday. I discovered this because he was in tears.
Ibuprofen and paracetemol helped dull the pain but did not take it away, so he is quite worn out from it. He is usually so active it is horrible. I prefer it when it is me. He fell from second storey height off a ladder, landing on his feet some years ago and has compaction problems. It is why he no longer rides.
Then I found a female blackbird on the ground. I thought she may have broken leg but a neighbour has said she was on the ground near their bird table earlier. So I have her in a bunny hutch with wild bird food and water but am not hopeful.
DD had a great time at a wedding yesterday, got hit on by a drunk in a kilt but elbowed him to finally hammer home the not interested/do not manhandle me message and went off to a village christening today. I was a bit (embarresed to say) surprised at her outfit..maxi dress and sandals...but I think she pitched it right as some guests were in shorts and flip flops.
Next door have been round with young visitors to pet the bunny rabbits, and the bunnies all responded in a surprisingly sociable rather than skittish way.
I was under the influence of BBC Food Mojito..not as nice as I expected ...so I have have been adding to it to improve it. I now feel a bit sloshed, very sociable and wondering who we can invite round... I have the makings of a good bbq supper for about eight. But no pudding. And OH still has a bad back.
So BBQ whole chicken, coleslaw, salad and potatoes for just the three of us I think.0 -

Reminded me of Trivial Pursuits!
Well, I've filled my green bin, and topped up the neighbors'. Started hacking back the stuff in the back garden that's overgrowing into the garden of the house that is SSTC. Some of the bits that I chopped (extending loppers, stood on a chair) were taller than me! Still plenty left for next fortnights load. And probably a good few weeks after that.
I'm sat in my living room, I can already tell that there is more lightcoming in the back windows
Must remember to look out for when next door are back in as one piece dropped I've the fence (I'm quite pleased that I'd managed to get everything else to land this side of the fence0 -

Well ... I'm not that close.... guesstimating about £10-12 in round trip fuel.... I could buy myself several dinners for that
I'd also have to wash, do my hair, change, fill the car up, find the place.... not make an idiot of myself when I opened my mouth ..... so it's a bit of a faff all round
... and all I want to do right now is snooze.
I've eaten today too ... twice. Hot dog/onions before 10am .... and a Mr T Everyday Basics chicken curry/rice mid afternoon. So pretty full.0 -

If I'd not had an alcoholic drink this afternoon I'd have been tempted!
Was chopping up the felled greenery to get it into the various green bins which were at my service. Was almost finished and the feint sound of thunder started, then about 5 mins later the rain came.
I took refuge indoors and moved a couple of pot plats with me. Sheltered from the rain dead heading and removing dead leaves from the plants accompanied by some passionfruit liqueur I picked up on one of my trips across the Channel topped up with some prosecco. So that's my contribution to this weekend's NP cocktail efforts (very nice it is too).

My mother stuck with "Measure your child at the age of 2 and double it to get their final height".
It worked, just about, for all 5 of us and for both of my two.
worked for my boys too.I thought it was something about average parents height and add 2 inches for a boy and subtract 2 for a girl?
I think that is meant as a guide, otherwise all brothers would be the same height.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Mmmm, passion fruit! Passion margaritas at Wahaca are my favourite
You cannot guess the number of times DS and I have called "OAhh! TRAMPOLINE!" today :rotfl: We have a front garden, if not a back one. Sitting on the doorstep with sore fingers and a glass of wine for my efforts.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
