Dead or seriously wounded mice are also rubbish at getting into cupboards. Particularly, the dead ones.
If your cat is bringing live mice into the house without keeping an eye on them, perhaps you should have a chat about it?
Actually, in this case, it was short hand.
the mice just walk in, we have no back door, so they wander in.. The internal doors ( one of which effectively becomes a back door, are no barrier because
A: the doors are all 70 mm off floor level ( floors are concrete) to allow for the floor finish we want
B. there is a duct running from the utility room ( out side the current 'back door' ( door between utility and kitchen) and the internal lobby ( runs underneath kitchen/cheese room).
Cats spend hours sitting hopefully by the duct or bottom of the door in winter.
Dogs aren't allowed in kitchen end of cheese room under normal circumstances but kiwi is allowed to mouse, ( which he calls ' rat') 'where's the rat' off he skittles.....funnily enough, in Italian he knows rat and mouse, but he much prefers 'rrrrrrrat'0 -
Having looked forward to, and shopped for, cocktails. We forgot to have any:(
We had white wine with fish for dinner, sat outside and finished the bottle..and then coffee.
It is too late now..so I will have to try extra hard tomorrow.
We planted up the chimney pots tonight, two of them have blousey orange begonias and trailing ivy. One has a pot of a giant orange impatiens and the other has a well spread lemon thyme.
The weather was glorious, then suddenly went humid again for a couple of hours. Warm and comfortable again now.
Shame. I think your comment about margaritas and mojitos lodged itself in my subconscious. The sun came out, we watched the crazy frenchmen playing drums in the sky and visited the pub where I had four strawberry margaritas. It was BOGOF and everyone else was on the beer, so a girl had to do what she had to do!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

lir, do you have contents insurance? Most insurers require external doors with locks to british standards etc I just wondered if you had cover in case of theft?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Was he a low birthweight, too? So he started on his own line, and just kept going?
Not low but lowish due to being born slightly prem. He dropped a centile pretty quickly for his weight but as he had broncholoitis (? can't spell this morning!) and was quite poorly, that was to be expected. His main issue was height though, he just wouldn't grow and although he was a not bad length at birth (low end of normal), he was the shortest of mine by a long way..James had been ultra long, abnormally long really and Josh was 2cms behind him.
His height progess became more alarming as time went on, initially they were blaming his slightly early arrival and then down to the fact he was poorly for the first few weeks, later his food intolerances but in the end, tests were done. The results plus a family history (dad was very small when he left school but became a normal height, my brother was small all through school but is now 6ft! They both spurted at age 15), explained the issue.
Unfortunately, the promised small all through school, a late puberty and resultant growth spurt to become 5ft 7 ish has not quite happened yet. Yes he has been small all through school, yes he had a late puberty but the growth spurt hasn't happened yet!
He goes and stands by the year 7's to make himself feel tall :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
In case of need, could tell the loss adjuster that the thieves took the door with them! I'm sure this would work........0

I feel for him. I too was a small through school late puberty person. I was also an August birthday and a year ahead, which didn't help. When I was in what would now be called Y9, I was still shorter than all the Y8 and Y7, and so the shortest person in the school. My growth spurt was in 6th form - unusual generally, but especially for a girl.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I was the second tallest on the school when I left primary school. Don't think I grew a single cm in height after that, though clearly everyone else did!0 -

Well done Doozergirl. Valiant effort! There wasn't really any alternative
I decided to venture out last night. Unfortunately the cashpoints en route were out of order, so I only had the cash in my purse (a grand total of £5.10). I had to make a call on what to invest it in (a drink or some dirty fast food). I went for a pint of local ale (there is a fairly big brewer based here).
My walk took me through my 'first choice' area when I was looking at houses. Half of it was closed (backs onto part of the festival site), and the main street had queues coming out of every off licence/ corner shop. Parking looked nightmarish. I expect everyone will be spending this evening picking rubbish out of their front gardens.
The festival was still heaving when I got there. Caught a parade along the local watercourse (same boats as were parading earlier in the day when I walked past, but lit up this time). Included 2 'Frozen' themed boats and a North Pole one (odd on a sticky July evening). My first prize went to the 'Depsicable Me' one.
Fireworks were ok.0 -
Grrrr..... The MSE censors have been working overtime in DT again.
Blinking annoying.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
