Annoying ....hopefully just £2s worth. I presume your water's not on a meter.0 -

Nope, on a metre, and now rather high pressure and flow rate too.0 -

No point going to the expense of replacing the tap with one of those reducing flow systems they have in some public loos (where it turns itself off after X amount of time) .... as [a] the cost is too great compared to the likelihood of a repeat next time RP will strike somewhere else, causing a different bill to accumulate.0 -
Reading DG's, Lydia's and micheals posts makes me thinks that some NP are too nice. Or maybe I am not nice enough. Loving someone does not mean you have to give them permission to walk over you. There is no way I could tolerate any mismatch in shared values about 'sharing', i would have to speak up and work it through.
I actually agree with Generali...no spending in a marriage/partnership without responsibility..so if a spouse wilfully disregards shared responsibility then there needs to be some protection for the other party. It is not retaliation but self preservation to create seperate accounts and a housekeeping budget.
Totally agree. I have learnt my lesson. If I ever find myself a new man I will handle the relationship very differently from last time.lostinrates wrote: »Just found out RP left the hose on since Tuesday. On concrete. Feeding into a drain, into cake, which we have to pay electricity on to pump out.

Oh no! Sending dodgy hugs as can't think else what to do: :grouphug:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I also think that leaving all the "dealing with money" in the hands of one person is unwise because life is uncertain. Of course in a relationship there's some kind of division of labour, and if one person dies unexpectedly then the other person will suddenly have to learn how to do things that the deceased person used to do, but I think anyone who really takes no interest at all in the money side of their relationship is leaving themselves in a potentially vulnerable position.
I completely agree with you. Of course, you probably want to make sure one person takes responsibility for the electricity / council tax / etc bills, so that you don't find that the council sends the lads round. But you both need to know how the system works, and so forth.Very nearly bought myself a Nemo balloon (I'm blaming kermie) to cheer myself up. Have been feeling pretty mopey all week. Settled on some flowers instead.
Blue skies and sunshine here
Kermie opines that you should have bought the balloon. At least, I showed him the picture of your flowers, and he didn't seem impressed at all. A helium balloon though has given him absolutely hours of amusement.
It came as part of a very generous present from a solicitor last week - the balloon, a posh white wine, choc covered peanuts and raisins, yogurt ditto, a mini-roses plant, some choc truffles, and a ridiculously expensive but very nice pair of baby vests (Petit Bateau, so almost certainly £25 - £30 of vests. PN would have a fit, they sell dungarees for fit babies that cost up to £50 per pair).
Kermie didn't get to benefit from most of the hamper, but the vests are all his, and the balloon he adores. OH and Isaac scoffed all the grub....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

99% of my clothes don't cost that. Currently wearing a £1 top, £4 crop trousers ... and was wearing some £5 fake crocs when I went out0 -
Currently trying to decide if I can be bothered to walk into town again. Have just spent a couple of hours attacking an overgrown plant in the front garden so I'm fairly warm. The sky has also clouded over and I'm not convinced it's not going to rain.

Sibling used to insist on shoes made to templates of the kids feet, Had to take templates of the feet to send of to the modish catalogue company and I always wondered how much those quick growing kids feet had changed by the time the shoes arrived. And definitely by the time they got new ones.
They were very sweet shoes.0 -
