Hi dippy Then it must have been my imagination that I was knocked up out of bed at 5.30am to find half a dozen police officers and Neil Webb from the DWP on my doorstep. The police arrested me and took me to the police station. In the meantime the house was searched from top to bottom as was my car and office premises. My poor wife who remained in the house must have dreamt it as well!!

What,no Bodie and Doyle tut tut tut.

You're really getting stuck into this tale of criminality...you need to watch your blood pressure!

Yes the police may have been at your property to conduct the search on behalf of the DWP, this is the same procedure as now.

All of the evidence would then be signed over to the DWP to continue with the investigation, including prosecution by the DWP (who were a prosecuting authority in their own right until recently).

If what you say is correct then the decision that your benefit was paid incorrectly was probably more to do with your working in excess of 16 hours a week rather than the amount of profit made.

Was this prior to 1992 ?

Thanks ceecee, No the DWP took a back seat after the searches and arrest. I was interviewed only by the police, I never saw or had contact with the DWP again. All of the charges were from Theft Act.
I proved my actual working hours which were maybe 5/10 a week if I was lucky. Yes it was in 1987 - case first heard in Middleton Magistrates Court, Manchester then sent to Manchester Crown Court for sentencing. The police prosecuted.

Then all I can say is that you made a grave error by self-representing in court and not having proper legal representation.

And that is not the fault of either the DWP or the police

Actually that's a good idea, also the date of the first day of the Crown Court case and address of the Crown Court.

It was on the 17th August 1987 at Manchester Crown Court.

Was it not the royalties from your number 1 hit that you were maybe squirreling away and found in a bank account in the Caymen Islands under the name of Lord Lucan and discovered by Hercule Poirot?

You obviously know your way round social security legislation ceecee

Clever claiming UB for 18 months..... UB exhausted long before 18 months. CTB didn't exist in 1987- though I have no idea what it was then as I was at school.

Council Tax didn't exist in 1987, it wasn't introducued until 1993. Our master criminal has forgottoen it was called the Poll Tax previous to 1993....is his story starting to unravel....again?

You know we keep thinking Andy is a male....he could be a female...a polyester wearing, 50st hairy legged, with morning shadow and a face full of warts...i've always had a vision of a male...skinny, dweeby, bad greasy comb over with 'no dad' cardigans and brown polyester ankle swingers, now im sooooo confused..... Are you a Ken or a Barbie?

Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
