You need your friend to help you prove that she has not paid you rent or anything else, so a letter from her signed & dated might be enough. Did you take anyone with you to this IUC? If not then find a solicitor who specialises in benefit cases/law to help.
My rent needed to be paid in one amount. As for other bills, for him to pay they insisted they be in his name as they would be paid by direct debit meaning I would not be able to talk to anyone about things concerning my house.
I took no one with me, can't afford a solicitor0 -
I cant remember where I read it but a relative or friend is allowed to gift you sums of money regularly to help you out and it shouldn't have any effect on your benefits whatsoever , it's a gift not re numeration for working or an income on savings , but they are bound to question any regular amounts going into your account. I'm sure somebody will be along soon who has some knowledge on this but I wouldn't worry about it as chances are the DWP employee doesn't know what they are on about
Who interviewed me said that because they occurred every month they were income and not a gift. A gift would be a once a year thing for a birthday. What I had was income that has not been declared0 -
How much were these 3 payments adding up to monthly?0

Hi Marshmallow, yes indeed it does make a difference on how you word/how you say things when it comes to the DWP. It also makes a difference if you have the money to pay for specialist legal help. I had a similar problem and through ignorance pleaded guilty years ago to benefit fraud. I assumed that the DWP had it right only to find out much later that self employed income should only be taken into account AFTER all reasonable trading expenses had been deducted. I accepted that the gross figure was the correct one to use. I received a criminal record out of my ignorance and lack of available money to pay for a specialist to represent me (I represented myself in Crown Court).

Tut tut tut Andy you've still got a vivid imagination!
Op....Ignore this character he is a longtime troll who deserves a criminal record for being an longtime idiot!0 -

£95 was to top up my rent, £30 for my telephone and broadband.
The rest was for food and towards my gas and electricity
You have a very nice dad.0 -

It was his new wife that kicked me out of my family home where I had lived for 35 years. The money is the only contact I have with him, I don't see him or speak to him from one month to the next, all thanks to her0 -

At 35 years old, why so negative about having your own place? Its a great thing to have your own space
It hardly sounds as if you were shoved out in the cold, they are still subsidising your lifestyle - Maybe they thought it was about time you had your own place - and at 35 years old, not unreasonable
There is a way out, but won't be easy. They are likely to put a stop to your benefits in the meantime while investigating - Is there any reason you can't look for work? The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
Could they be investigating that maybe you are offering a service to your dad in exchange for the money? In a way you are, you are offering to not live there any longer, but I wouldn't think that this would count as a remunerated service!0
