In A Real Mess....Benefit Fraud

Andy really does have issues...he obviously fantasies about being arrested, how many different scenarios has it been? ...maybe it's the handcuffs or it could be the uniform!0

The police wouldn't. Since 1986 the crown prosecution service are the ones. There are more holes in this story than there are in Blackburn Lancashire.
I know.... I investigate benefit fraud for a living & have done for years and what the o/p describes is utterly at odds with procedure
I meant why were the police involved? A search wouldn't be done in such circumstances. Plus a different theft act charge would have been used.0 -

I would be astounded someone was jailed for a mere £12k fraud. Most benefit fraudsters up to about £50-£75k get suspended sentences.
Nobody would calculate gross self employed income and if the work had been declared then in all probability it would be treated as a DWP error and any overpayment written off. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
Hi JL aka A&F (andyandflo for those who haven't guessed yet) which website did you get this fairy tale from or have you been watching too much Jeremy Kyle?
As an ex tax inspector I would have thought you would have known better how to fill in a tax return but hey oh it's just another day in the life of a troll :beer:0 -
Why would the police take that on when the DWP have their own fraud team & solicitors units?0

Hi dippy Then it must have been my imagination that I was knocked up out of bed at 5.30am to find half a dozen police officers and Neil Webb from the DWP on my doorstep. The police arrested me and took me to the police station. In the meantime the house was searched from top to bottom as was my car and office premises. My poor wife who remained in the house must have dreamt it as well!!0 -

Hi housing, it must then have been a traumatic nightmare that I had and nothing to do with reality.
Mind you would you like the imagined Crown Court case number?, maybe a copy of my last CRB check, or might you want to confirm all of this with the police officer concerned who is now a DS?0 -
Hi dippy the simple answer to that is that the DWP did not have the power to obtain the evidence they needed. I, along with all of my customers & friends (who were contacted by the DWP fraud team) were sending the investigator, Neil Webb (Manchester office round in circles. He brought the police in to carry out search warrants and arrest warrants. Without the police help, the DWP would have got nowhere.
Was this whilst he was playing for United, or after?
Come on Andy, you're losing points on originality!0 -

Actually that's a good idea, also the date of the first day of the Crown Court case and address of the Crown Court. It's someone else's fault.0
