    I don't really trust postal entry much either - even if the postman doesn't lose them, how would they choose whether to sift through postcards rather than all those entries who had paid for a call or text?
    I guess it was always my dream to get "that call" and be an ITV winner and they have made a heck of a lot harder :-( Does anyone on MSE win these any more? We used to have quite a few winners posting and I haven't seen any in quite a while.

    If a postal entry is correctly delivered and delivered in time it will be "in the mix" but there are certainly a lot less postal entries then there were free web ones so far less chance there will be a free postal winner.

    Dickinsons Real Deal, because it was daily, produced most winners and that has been off air for sometime until this week so apart from anything else there were far fewer competition winners altogether. Also from comments on the forum it is clear that some/most? people who entered free web do not enter via any method now.

    With Dickinsons in the case of multiple entries it's cheaper to phone/text than send several postcards.

    It's cheaper to send the postcards

    1 text entry = £1 + snr = (£1.04 - £1.12)
    1 postal entry 53p (After 30th March 54p)

    5 text entries £3 + (3 x snr) = £3.12 - £3.36)
    5 postal entries £2.65 (After 30th March £2.70)

    23 text entries £12 + (12 x snr) = (£12.44 - £13.44)
    23 postal entries £12.19 (After 30th March £12.42)

    25 text entries £13 + (13 x snr) = (£13.52 - £14.56)
    25 postal entries £13.25 (After 30th March £13.50)

    27 text entries £14 = (14 x snr) = (£14.56 - 15.68)
    27 postal entries £14.31 (After 30th March £14.58)

    29 text entries £15 + (15 x snr) = (15.60 - 16.80)
    29 postal entries £15.37 (After 30th March £15.66)

    37 text entries £19 + (19 x snr) = (£19.76 - £21.28)
    37 postal entries = £19.61 (After 30th March £19.98)

    Unless I've made a complete balls-up of the maths, it will only be cheaper to enter by text when the following 3 conditions are met;

    1. Stamps are bought at 54p each after the 30th March 2015.
    2. You have a tariff where the snr is 4p
    3. You enter the competition 27 to 37 times with the same phone number.

    You'd still only be saving between 2p and 22p.

    You would have to buy/print the postcards and you don't get any sort of confirmation of delivery after sending them.

    It's marginal if you use 2nd class post but at the current 62p for first class it's cheaper to phone for 5 entries (1.03 x 3 = £3.09) than post (.62 X 5 = £3.10) all the way up to 37 entries where phone £19.57 compares to post £22.94 (7 entries is the swing point for text if you pay 4p although that will drop to 5 entries when post prices increase))

    (Earliest collection here is the midday the next day after the show and with the delivery standard for second class "two or three working days" there is a good chance 2nd class will be too late and wasted)
  • Quick question, if you're lucky enough to get a call from ITV do they leave a message if you've got an answer machine? I put my home number on but am out at work all day so probably wouldn't be in when they call!

    TIA
    :eek: - Just because I love this emoticon!

    Typically, after all of that number crunching (and me ordering an Asda sim card), ITV are putting the prices up to £1.54 for BT landline calls & £1.50 + snr for text message entries into the Real Deal competitions from next week;

    Our nearby post box collects at 9 am, so it makes postal entries dodgy time-wise with the short time to enter... :(

    (And Saturday morning our postbox doesn't get emptied at all- you have to post elsewhere.)

    That matches most of the others then, wonder if they are going to switch to a larger but just weekly prize?
