Just recently I've realised just how dangerous I am when cycling for pedestrians at zebra crossings.

Several times in the last couple of months, I've found that my magic cycling cloak of invisibility seems to now often extend to pedestrians waiting at zebra crossings when I pull up and stop to let them cross.

This means that when I stop, not only myself but also the pedestrians become invisible, and cars unsuspectingly drive past, blind to hazard of pedestrians waiting to cross.

I think it might be safer if I ignored zebra crossings altogether :)

I'm a cyclist and a car driver. It's a complete waste of time moaning about cyclists going on the pavement, jumping red lights, riding with no lights at night etc.

Nothing will ever change unless some sort of law is brought in and that won't happen as it would be impossible to enforce.

It's illegal to ride a bike on the pavement and at night with out lights as it is, I've never seen the Police stop a cyclist for either.

    Just forget them

Don't just forget them, accommodate them with a smile and a happy heart. They are your brothers and sisters, and they have no desire to antagonise. ;)
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Have I missed an update to the Highway Code ?
It seems that cyclists can ignore all road traffic signals and continue forward regardless - and then they wonder why they are at risk... !

I wonder how many motorists complain about a cyclist going through a red light but who can also "hand on heart" say they have never gone at 71mph on a motorway, never tailgated (ie leave less than a 2 second gap from the car in front), or never parked on a double yellow line?

Two wrongs don't make a right.

    Most of them don't.

They can see the pedestrians, but passing the cyclist is all that matters.

Waiting at the crossing is the key, technically you only have to give way if the pedestrian has "moved onto a crossing", Highway Code Rule 195.

When a c**k gets in a car, we call them Audi drivers.

When a c**k gets on a bicycle, we call them cyclists.

This business of tarring all cyclists with one brush, it needs to STOP!!

I saw a "mature" cyclist today riding the wrong way along a stretch of dual carriageway today. I'm sure the HC says they shouldn't!

Well if you can't tell the make of bike what else do you call them? And why the stereotyping of Audi drivers?
