Quorn is much closer to toe-fungus than Penicillin!

If I'm doing a chilli, I prefer to use quorn mince rather than normal mince. I buy it when on offer, It seems to keep well in the freezer

sweet potato as a source of protein?
While peas are 6g of protein per 100g your going to be having to eat a decent amount of them.

2g per 100g in sweet potatoes.

When you add up all the stuff you eat there cant be many people who do not at least meet the 56g per day on average needed for an adult male (Not a high end athlete obviously).

(and that's probably pretty high as it's based mostly on discredited research from over a century ago).

On the other hand kidney stones are hours of fun for everyone.

Didn't say there wasn't, but enough from just vegetables? Nor was I advocating excess consumption. So what's wrong with a bit of Quorn then?

It's processed, overseasoned, full of salt, etc.

I have had 33g of protein so far today from just, bread (including two roll with pumpkin seeds on to be fair), reduced fat hummus, tomatoes (not much in them 1g from 6 cherry toms), peanut buttter (unsalted and unsweetened) and marmalade (virtually none in that). I have used 839 Calories of my target of </=2380. I think I am on track.

I would bet that the Quorn mince has less salt in it than most bought bread. The mince has nothing much added in it (Mycoprotein (93%), Rehydrated Free Range Egg White, Firming Agents: Calcium Acetate, Calcium Chloride, Roasted Barley Malt Extract, Natural Caramelized Sugar.) and only 0.25g of salt per 100g.

I can never understand why vegetarians want to eat pretend meat anyway.

I don't think it's pretend meat, I've eaten meat and it doesn't taste that similar.

Reduced fat? Ha ha! Just eat less. Do you really think that your diet would suit most of the population? I'm a vegetarian, who grows their own veg and bakes bread, and I think it sounds yuk!

Perhaps you should look at some Quorn products' ingredients, not oversalted nor overseasoned...

Not every Quorn product is the mince, I bet nearly everyone who uses the mince adds other flavourings to it and it has two types of sugar on the list, stabilisers, Calcium Chloride a salt substitute and a stabiliser - not overseasoned at al :rotfl:l. A plain fillet contains 1.3 g of salt. Quorn steak strips 1g per 100g
As for eating less - why? I want enough to cover the bread, I just didn't want the extra oil at the moment.
That's not all that I eat just what I have had so far today.

You must be pretty unimaginative then, vegetarians are not vegetarians because they like killing vegetables but because they don't like killing animals.

Yawn. I imagine you made your own hummus then and there's no sugars in your marmalade. Get off your soapbox and get real, most people don't want to proselytize about food, they want to enjoy it. :p
