Not a veggie but eat Quorn products at times as its lighter on the gut than meat when in the mood for it. Sausages are good, herby like Lincolns. Beef burgers are quite good as somehow they got the texture of ground beef right. Battered chicken style nuggets are a good alternative for a sweet and sour dish as all you taste is the sauce anyway. The beef pieces are foul texture and flavourless. Had a sort of chicken and mushroom in breadcrumb type thing recently was good.

Yes its processed and grown in big tanks but so is most stuff, have you seen how they produce lettuce these days? most never see soil and are grown over a liquid chemical soup on a slow conveyor belt.

Dont get how some veggies think that they are eating healthier food, that sort of thinking is a joke. Fat is very good for you, (butter is even becoming fashionable amongst the mainstream dieters even) the body uses fat as a energy source......sugars are the enemy generally.
The veggies I know all eat far too many refined carbs such as pasta and bread and not enough protein or even green veg.

Yeah, the problem is that a lot of people dont know how to cook decent vegetarian meals from scratch and rely on eating things like cheese and onion pasties and baked potatoes.
I think schools need to do more regarding helping kids to cook from scratch. I've had to teach myself and can make anything but it is very daunting to a lot of people.
Quorn is o.k occassionaly but people need more vegetable based meals really.

It's funny how personally people take what other people eat :)

As for Quorn, I did not like their chicken style pieces, nor mince (I thought it was too much like meat mince - so meat eaters might enjoy it), but both me and my partner like the burgers. Much lighter than eating meat burgers and I think they have a decent texture/flavour. Texture-wise it's so similar to meat that it can be cooked and served the same way.

I would be careful about getting too worried about eating mould. You'll end up reading all these websites..As a new user I can't post links, but try googling 'living network moldy food' if you dare.
You'll weep for your lost innocence and days when food was still something to be enjoyed ;)

Yep agree, i'm in the same situation....fullest cupboard is the herb and spice one. As for all this 5 a day nonsense...... 5 veg and maybe 1 or 2 fruits is what people really need.

Its is processed, but anyone saying 'cheap meat' is less processed is fooling themselves. :D I think the 'steak/lamb strips' are good in stir-fry's and the mince could easily be 'cheap' minced meat, just has to be cooked slightly differently. Vegetable-based meals fine, but where's the protein from?

^ think they are doing a trial of a vegan range, sure I read something this week about that.
Not the OP will be bothered, being a meat eater though!

They sell two vegan products in the USA, they did a tasting in Brighton here last weekend as the start of marketing stuff.

There is protein in grains, pulses and other legumes, green vegetables, potatoes, sweet potatoes etc. Plenty of health conditions caused by to much of it too.

Didn't say there wasn't, but enough from just vegetables? Nor was I advocating excess consumption. So what's wrong with a bit of Quorn then?

sweet potato as a source of protein?
While peas are 6g of protein per 100g your going to be having to eat a decent amount of them.

    So is Penicillin

Quorn is much closer to toe-fungus than Penicillin!
