I applied for dla for my son, they recieved the claim on 19th November, I recieved a text message saying they would have a decision within 8 weeks! But reading through your comments in really worried now, do they always contact the school? I only ask as I have nothing but hassle with the school!! 😡 this is the first time I have applied for this, although my son has been getting seen by cams and autism unit for 2 years.0

it all depends on the amount of information you put on the form and the amount of evidence you sent to back the claim up0

I put in loads of information also 2 separate sheets of paper with information, I think I should have Mabye got someone else to help me with it as things my son does or struggles with we have always just adapted to and tried to work around never really seen them as issues if that makes sense, I found it really difficult only focusing on the negative x0

i got my reconsideration in yesterday and was refused the details being that i have no individual learning or support plan at school, well it would help if they checked with school cos the didnt, he has individual learning, support, medical, behaviour plans with the school, i moved him in august and i did inform them of this, so have lodged an appeal how long ill wait now who knows, but if they did their job properly then they would know he had these things

Anyone looking for info on renewals, we just got my sons decision on his renewal. It took 9 weeks for a decision to be made, not bad when they said 8 weeks :T
We've been awarded higher for both components for another 5 years, I didn't have a lot of fear over it as he has always had that award and nothing has considerably changed. I put in all the paperwork I had to back everything up and also got the school senco to fill out the non-compulsory part, I feel this aided in a quick and easy decision.0 -
We posted a renewal pack away on the 19th of September recorded delivery. Didn't hear anything after 4 weeks so gave them a call they did they were back logged and that I would receive a letter soon confirming they had the forms. Waited and waited didn't want to hassle them as they had said it would be dealt with so left it. Now are claim
Has run out and we've had to wrote out a new claim form. Am gutted to lose the dla middle rate for our son. My hubby is his ft carer so we rely on ca for income as my full time wage is not great. My son is 8 has asd learning disability, developmental delay, nocturnal enuresis, coordination problems and fluctuating middle ear dysfunction. He is was never awarded mobility on his last claim as he was only 5. Just hope hey deal with our claim soon we use his dla to pay for him to go to a disability swimming group and a disability theatre group. We won't be able to afford this if the dla take too long :-( gutted is an understatement. We also need to buy him new school uniform and shoes which we had planned to do this term. As he is so clumsy and walks on his toes shuffling he wears his shoes out so quickly and gets a lot of tears in his trousers. Does anyone know how long claims are currently taking? X0 -
I've been waiting since 12th august, but luckily they extened her claim for a year so it runs till july. Rang up before christmas and they have only just started august claims.0
