Child DLA timescale

  • I'm another one in the same boat, renewal forms sent 6 weeks ago, they said they hadn't received them in the beginning so had me fill another one in registered post. The original forms then turned up but as if yet are still waiting to be looked at. My sons award ended on August 27th and carers has now stopped also. I haven't informed CTC in the vain hope that it's sorted within the next few weeks. I won't be leaving it too long after that though as it's going to be a struggle whilst things are getting sorted without a debt to CTC to pay back in top if that. I'll probably leave it until the end if this month and then ring them. DLA have been no help and provided me with no timescales as to when I can expect a decision at all, absolute nightmare! And to top it all of we are supposed to be going on holiday in 7 weeks time :(
I really do sympathise with everyone here, it's an absolute joke!
  • Just to update everyone Iv just rang the DLA and been given a timescale of 26 weeks she said it won't be this year they look at my daughters claim, she said they can't cope with the backlog, what an absolute joke of a system.
I'm sure by next year as we will just be fobbed off with another timescale again, clever way of getting rid of people on DLA.
I understand there are some people who shouldn't be on it but there are ones who most definitely should be on it and have to cope with no money for months while they get through their backlog.
Luckily we don't depend on it but some do and I feel so sorry for them.Government cuts yet again I'm sure and this is the after effect.

Hi, I wouldn't recommend delaying telling CTC about your DLA payments. I'm surprised they don't already know. I always thought DWP and tax credits share info..
  • I have had a text from the DWP today which states -

'We have awarded your child DLA. We will confirm this in writing. You do not need to contact us.'

No letter and no money in our account yet so I have no idea what exactly we have been awarded!

It's bang on 27 weeks since our reconsideration appeal went in and 34.5 weeks since our award ended.

Mejaa they are a complete joke I'm afraid, they are estimating 26 weeks to look at a claim, knowing them you will get it back to front and you will end up getting an award then a letter saying they have received your claim.Communication is very poor in departments there going by experience and other peoples posts !

We have had the mandatory reconsideration letter through today and dla has been awarded to my daughter at a rate we are happy with. Very, very relieved!
We are still waiting for an official award notice or any money! It says she is entitled from the date in January when her award ran out so I will assume it will be back dated. Is that a fair assumption?
It is 35 weeks today since her last award finished.

Your assumption is right. DLA would be back dated from the date it stopped.
