I'm another one in the same boat, renewal forms sent 6 weeks ago, they said they hadn't received them in the beginning so had me fill another one in registered post. The original forms then turned up but as if yet are still waiting to be looked at. My sons award ended on August 27th and carers has now stopped also. I haven't informed CTC in the vain hope that it's sorted within the next few weeks. I won't be leaving it too long after that though as it's going to be a struggle whilst things are getting sorted without a debt to CTC to pay back in top if that. I'll probably leave it until the end if this month and then ring them. DLA have been no help and provided me with no timescales as to when I can expect a decision at all, absolute nightmare! And to top it all of we are supposed to be going on holiday in 7 weeks time :(
I really do sympathise with everyone here, it's an absolute joke!

Sixty have you heard anymore about yours?,Iv just put an update regarding ours :)

Just to update anyone on here we had a call yesterday from a man from DLA asking lots of questions regarding my daughter while I was driving but pulled over and at the end of it he said well we've decided you won't be receiving this as we decided that after looking at it again your daughter is no longer entitled.
She's only on low rate care anyway but it's not the point ,I was expecting this outcome so it's tribrunal next:(
It's been 20 weeks to get to this point, hope others have heard about theirs :)

We have have sent the forms off to tribunal as they will not award the mobility part for my son with Aspergers. I've had a letter back from the tribunal service saying they apologise in advance that there will be a long delay. Does anyone else have experience of attending a tribunal?

Yes. As a claimant rather than a parent of a disabled child. You will be asked questions about a typical day. You mention mobility - no idea of your child's age or their situation; but you'd be asked about what they're like when they're outside. IE - is your child able to follow instructions? Or is he like me and directions confuse him? I, for example, get confused if it says turn left and then right.

Will add more later, but my tablet is about to die!

    Thank you for your reply

He is 5 and has Aspergers, probable dyspraxia and hyper-mobile joints. I also have a six year old son who also has Aspergers. For the six year old we get low rate care and low rate mobility.

For the five year old we currently get middle rate care ( due to horrendous sleeping problems) but they will give mobility. DLA says that they asked the school to complete a form and that the school say he has to be reminded about things but does not require any more help than a normal child his age. Separately the Occupational Therapy department asked my sons teacher who is also the SENCO to complete a different form for referral to see them and she put down all sorts of problems that he has - right from bumping into people/things, falling over, problems dressing, all the additional supervision he needs and lots more. I have sent a copy of this to the tribunal. I just feel really nervous/scared about the whole thing, but ultimately I want to make sure we receive the help that we need. He has no road sense, day dreams and it difficult to get him to respond at times , refuses to walk, gets really tired quickly, tantrums etc.

Has any five year old got road sense? Most of them also daydream and have tantrums. I've claimed dla since dd was a baby she's now 16 trying to think how best to word it you need to separate out what a normal five year old would do as they will otherwise say his no different to any other 5 year old. Not making myself very clear I know. My dd is 16 with a mental age of about 8.

If you're good friends with a mum of one of his friends, then see if you can compare your child with theirs.

  • My ongoing problem is after being turned down for low rate care £21 pw for my daughter it was looked at again (mandatory reconsideration) I had a phone call from benefit advisor the one afternoon,I explained I was in the car on the way home so got my husband to pull over couldn't think properly on the side of the road and informed him of this.
A few days later I was sent a letter saying they have not changed their mind and on their letter it states I had nothing else to add when he spoke to me on the phone which no I didn't I had to pull over in a busy road put hazards on and the fact my children were in the car I couldn't think properly.
The result that came through the post states that she is not entitled to high rate mobility and middle rate care and been turned down but not once does it mention the low rate care elemant she's previously been on for the last 7 years,I never wanted middle care and high mobility for her all I wanted was low rate care that she was on,I'm completely utterly baffled so sent off my argument and appealed to a tribrunal.
