Hi,
I'm on ESA, PIP & IIDB due to an accident leaving me with severe problems with & pain in my back, arm, neck & head so I'm not a well girl.
Ive been advised that there is a lot of help available for people who are registered disabled...can anyone help or advise how I get registered and how I can get this help.
Thanks

There isn't a register - there hasn't been for a long time.
Usually to qualify for discounts on things, you need to claim either DLA or PIP.0 -
Thanks :-)
So just proving that I get PIP should be enough?0 -
Generally, yes. A benefit letter, such as your PIP award is enough for proof.
There are still some LAs that have registers and there are registers for those of us who are blind / partially sighted or have severe hearing problems.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I would be interested to know what extra help is available. As a severely disabled person I don't know of any extra help out there. I manage to carry on as best I can thanks to my family and I'm not being facetious with this post, I'm just wondering if I'm missing something?0

My dd is on our LA register but there isn't any extra help , its just so they can have an idea of the scale of issues in the area. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

There are in some areas although theres no actual benefit to being on it .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

A couple of things which spring to mind:
Disabled Persons Rail card
Discounts at music venue/theatre/theme parks
In my local area the council offer a free bulk waste collection (1 per year) and there is a furniture charity who offer low cost items.
There is a national scheme I believe where accompanying carer's can get a cinema ticket for free
Most if not all of those have eligibility criteria and it's usually a certain benefit award.
Worth a ring round of various local organisations and your council to see what is out there.0 -

This is what I've found. I was told that when I registered as partially sighted, I'd be entitled to things like a bus pass and disabled persons railcard. But I can get the railcard due to DLA and can get the bus pass on the basis of being refused a driving licence. In fact, despite my registration, I had to fight to get my bus pass last year. I was told by the council I could drive.
The only real benefit for me is the free eye tests.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Yes help with health costs is another one, i'm on CB ESA currently and get partial help.
Some benefits automatically entitle you to full help or if on a non-means tested benefit like me apply under the NHS Low Income Scheme (HC1 form). Full or partial help is a possibility.
Bus pass is another one and/or a Blue Badge.0 -
Most of that I knew (apologies, not meaning to be condescending), it's the general help that I was alluding to. Perhaps I'm not finding the groups or people that can connect me to others in my situation. I have a car, I can drive it and one way or another, I can get my wheelchair out of the boot and get into it.A couple of things which spring to mind:

Perhaps I am not searching correctly as I literally go outdoors maybe four times a year - all of which are for hospital appointments. I am intending to change this as soon as possible because indoor life gets a little boring.
