  • Yes - when I was younger with a family to organise and pack for I used to wish I could have a pre-holiday holiday. I also used to blitz the house before I went because I hated the thought of coming back to a less than perfect house. My OH used to joke that I was cleaning the house for the burglars. :rotfl:

Feel a little brighter today despite having a disturbed night. The sun is shining again so will get out in the garden later. DS2 is off today so we are going to take a trip to B&Q. I'll let him drive so I can continue resting - he loves my new car anyway so always jumps at the chance of driving.

Right going to get fabbed up, going to wear a new (to me) pair of trousers today because I seem to be struggling with jeans. None of mine seem to fit anymore - I must be between sizes. The boyfriend fit one ares hanging off me, the boot cut ones don't fit properly round the waist and Im fed up with having to keep hitching them up.

Is it time for the dreaded elasticated waists.:rotfl::rotfl:

I need to buy jeans but it has been so long that I can't imagine what colour/style or where to buy them????

My trouble is my waist is a size 14 but my legs are slim as I am a classic apple shape. This means I always look as if jeans are not quite fitting.

    NO! NO! NO!
Unless perhaps you get a really smart pair of jogger type trousers. If it's M&S Classics then you're a lost cause!;)

I need jeans too but as I want to buy something a bit better quality this time I'm not rushing into it. I'm more like LL: my waist is quite slim but I hate jeans that show up my thighs so tend to have to wear a belt or I'm constantly hitching them up.

I'm off on holiday on Saturday too. I've just been getting all the paperwork together. I know all my clothes are clean so I'll give some thought to what I'll wear. Mainly suitable for sightseeing with perhaps a couple of dresses thrown in for hotel dinners.
  • Good Morning Ladies,

I've just got back from a meeting at work so am more dressed up than is usual for a Tues morning when I am usually in exercise gear. I had to miss my Pilates class sadly. I'm wearing a dark grey/black knee length sleeveless shift dress which has a very subtle check in it and narrow grey belt. I've teamed it with a stripy cardigan in pinks and blacks, opaque black tights, flat black shoes and pearl necklace and bracelet. I've got my hair down and used the straighteners to make a neat bob. I'm quite pleased with the result. The dress is a Next one in a size 10 and fits really well (another charity shop find). I'd originally put on a similar shaped dress in a dark maroon- purple colour which looked lovely but didn't look right with the tights and shoes so I need to look out for some shoes that would go (and that would go with various other outfits too) with maybe a small heel. I'm on my feet a lot at work so need fairly flat shoes. I also am on the look out for a pair of knee high boots as the only pair I have have very thin high heels so only suitable for dressed up occasions without much walking around!

I am now at home for a couple of hours but back at work at 1.30 so need to find something I can get on with without changing my outfit - apart from sitting at the computer! I shall have to see if I can persuade DH to sort the hens as I don't think the outfit really works for them!

Good to hear you are feeling a bit better Lesson Learned.Hope you enjoy your trip out with your DS. I love working with my DSand we have even discussed buying a house between us that we can split into 2 with our own entrances. I am only 3 minutes walk away anyhow and DGD has her own bedroom here but it would be nice to be on the same plot. My DD on the other hand is a high flying city loving globe trotter so I don't see her as often as I would like though we speak or Skype as often as we can.

The sun is shining again which is always good for lifting the spirits so I hope it is shining on everyone else too.

  • Another chilly morning here. I'm never sure what to wear just now as cool mornings have lead to warn afternoons, as I'm at the charity shop today I don't want to dress too warm as it gets very hot in there if the sun comes out .

I'm wearing a kind of chiffon-type dress that I bought from the charity shop last week, with some leggings and I think I'll go for a scarf too just in case the sun doesn't appear. I only wear a bit of BB cream when I'm at the shop, make up would be a bit much for me!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi everyone,
Trying to catch up on the thread after a week away, so apologies to not commenting on posts, except to say that I am pleased that you are feeling a little better LL, please take good care of yourself, and if need be use the summer cold/virus thing for a while if it helps you manage the situation with "the seniors". When my dear friend's OH died very suddenly less than a month after his retirement (heart - so no warning), the doc told my friend not to be surprised if she caught every bug in the district for 18 months or so, and indeed her immune system did take a terrible dip:(

We did 6 days full on touristy stuff in and around York and I came home shattered and very sore, but Oh so worth it:D Catching up on the washing (weather is lovely), also needing to fab my garden, virtually no rain here for weeks, soil is dry anyway because of trees taking the moisture, so watering like mad and talking very nicely to everything which looks a bit sad.

Very busy week in prospect, but I have returned home with a strong wish to sort out my wardrobe and to do some house decluttering too. I am a self confessed clothesaholic, I have lots of lovely things that fit well, but should be able to shed a few items and then want to do a sort of mini project 333, but may do a monthly selection rather than a season, as I am easily bored:o

:T that's amazing, do share what you're doing.

I know exactly how you feel. Losing weight gives such a confidence boost and ready to move on to new clothes, hair, make-up .....
