Phew, epic previous post :rotfl: I hit post incase I lost it and had to start again :rotfl:
As for me well I am having mixed success on the fabbing front. I had been eating healthily and exercising every day and then I got a stomach bug and sine then I have been lazy and on a carb consumption driveSo that needs to be curbed!
However onto the good news! I finally have a summer capsule wardrobeMy family pulled my birthday money together and my wonderful sister took me shopping and I now own a core selection of co-ordinating items and they make me feel and look my best
Thank you all for the wardrobe advice!
To top it all they also organised a hair cut and the transformation is impressive!
My hubby also mentioned the other day that I am looking relaxed and happy these days and that the glow I have makes me look fabulous, I was delighted
So now I need to get the healthy eating and exercise sorted to keep up the fabulousness. This week I am going to give myself a wee overhaul to sort my nails, epilate and add some fake tan to my very pale legs and then I just need to keep it all up :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I received two compliments when I was at "work" yesterday. The manager said I looked "amazing" and my colleague described her friend as "tiny like Alec". The fabbing works!
How great to have your capsule wardrobe Rummer, so nice to have a decent choice and not having to dig through to find something that works. Plus a new haircut, fantastic!0 -
Rummer
I have had a worsening problem with left ankle for past 3-4 years, I had a minor op almost 2 years ago and in total was on crutches for about 8 weeks (and had been using them some of the time prior). This meant that I had become very weak as couldn't walk very far or stand doing housework and gardening for long periods.
As I am in my 60's I was worried about my condition, especially as I have always been very active:eek: It was a huge step for me going to a gym, I looked at the "big" gym and to be honest it was terrifying, so I signed up with PT the owner of small private one. He is a great big strapping guy in his 40's, but lovely and worked out a programme to increase core strength and that of arms, shoulders, legs, thighs etc. I don't do any cardio/fat busting stuff as I am not overweight (BMI 23.5) and I can do that on bicycle or excercise bike at home.
I go once a week for an hour and it costs £35, but it is changing my life, I have been gardening for 4-5 hours per day (with rests), I can lift and move stuff without putting my back out and am so much more independent. ATM OH is happy for the fee to be mostly paid from the general account and not just from my personal spends. I cannot see me wanting to stop as I feel so good afterward even if I am whacked and I am just not disciplined enough to buy weights and do it on my own.
Sorry that this has turned into a bit of an essay:(
Great news about the family birthday gifts, I am pleased that it is all coming together for you:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning:D
Hot again today. Can't remember when I last had my jeans on.. It's been dresses and skirts all the way.. DH very happy;)
Will do some yoga as usual today and have started doing Shred again as I stopped a while ago and fancied restarting it.
I don't find it difficult tbh so stop whining Bitsy:p
Have done a few 5k runs recently to run energy off.
I find it boring but it gets rid of energy... I have aspergers .
Very stressed just now with Noah's autism issues and eating disorders. Had major suicide issues with him last night so am on to CAMHS this morning .
My stress relief apart from erm sexy time is yoga and cooking and baking esp bread so lots of that going on
I dyed my long chestnut hair and I hate it:o
It was a deep cherry red hair colour but it's come out too dark on my hair so not sure what I'm doing with it lol.0 -
NPM, try washing your hair with Head & Shoulders a few times to lift some of the colour - apparently it is used in the "best colour salons"
Rummer, i know what you mean about the capsule wardrobe - I treated myself when starting this job and its so much easier but I have the daily dilemma of which shift dress! I've now started to put the back at the end of the row each night, so they get worn in a balanced rotation (very anal!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Floss My next challenge will be my work wardrobe
Currently off on maternity leave so I have a while before I need to give it serious thought but I think I will keep it simple and classic with only enough to get me through the week instead of loads of clothes.
NoahsPM Sorry to hear that you have had a tough time, the CAHMS teams are usually a great support so I hope they help with their visit today. Well down for keeping up the fabbing.
Maddie :j:j:j WELL DONE :j:j:j What a great achievement to have got your fitness levels up so well! I would not be able to afford a regular PT session however as I am struggling with my weight loss I wonder if a couple of sessions here and there would help me get a plan together that is effective with both diet and exercise. The other option is to join the council gym and get some PT sessions there as well as enjoying their classes. Hmmm food for thought….Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hello Everyone
Have been without the internet for a few days so unable to post.
Good to see you all back on the new thread and so full of goals and aims. Great to see so much positivity.
Noahs Mum - so sorry to hear about your son - hope you get the help and support you need.
I'm still keeping up with the basics and despite being really busy I had been pretty good on the healthy eating front. I have been struggling a bit with aches and pains for some reason. Well I know the reason - too much gardening and diy.
I was in too much pain even to exercise a little but today things felt much easier so I did some pilates. And hey presto I feel soooo much better - less pain and more flexible. I guess that tells me all I need to know - I simply have to find the time to do some yoga or pilates each day so I don't seize up. :rotfl:
Seriously I have finally come to realise that it really is regular exercise that keeps me pain free. So from now on I shall make 15 minutes of pilates each and every day my top priority.
Like you Maddie I had some serious problems with my back, neck, feet etc - all the result of caring for OH for all those years. Trying to lift and manoeuvre a 6ft man who had been very fit and who was still very muscular just about wrecked my body.
I decided I had no alternative but to invest in myself and like you I paid for my own physiotherapy. NHS provision is woefully inadequate in my neck of the woods so I just paid up.
It was hard to find the money sometimes but I just felt I had to make it my top priority because I knew that if I didn't I would have serious mobility issues. Now I find I can manage with going just once a month for maintenance so it's not such a tough financial burden these days.
I also pay to attend a weekly pilates class - £5 a week. The classes run by our local council cost slightly less but they aren't very well supervised. The class I attend is run by a private clinic. The classes are small - a max of 10 people and we get a lot of 1-1 attention.
Rummer - I can appreciate that you might not be able to afford regular PT sessions but it might be worth having a short course to "set you up". They usually give you homework anyway so once you know what you are doing you might find you can manage yourself with just an occasional session to keep you on track.
I think with things like yoga, pilates etc it is a good idea to get some professional help to begin with to ensure that you are doing the exercises correctly so as not to injure yourself.
Well now - the latest is - I am aiming to move into property 2 next Tuesday :j So - it's all systems go.
The house is not completely finished but the bedrooms are habitable, or will be after we've given the new plaster a lick of paint at the weekend. We now have a lovely all singing all dancing kitchen and a fabulous luxurious bathroom. That'll do me.
I don't mind living on a building site as long as I have somewhere clean to sleep, a working kitchen and lashings of hot water for a soak in the bath. I'm happy to work round the mess in the other rooms for a few weeks.
And - although I say it myself - the garden is beginning to look really pretty.
My bedroom will be very spartan to begin with, no skirting boards or architraves to the doors, and bare floorboards etc so today I have bought a temporary hanging rail and some plastic storage crates for my clothes until I can get the carpets down and buy some wardrobes. I spent a happy hour or so browsing round Dunhelm Mill getting ideas.
I also bought some sandals and a pair of canvas summer shoes, so that is me sorted now for the rest of the summer. I won't be buying any more clothes or shoes now until the autumn/winter, when hopefully I shall be buying at least one size smaller.
Floss - had to smile at the idea of dresses being worn in rotation. Very organised!!!
Got a busy day tomorrow so I shall wish you all G'night. Thankfully it's a bit cooler tonight so I hopefully I will sleep better.0 -
Hello all - I've been lurking, but not yet posted on this new thread.
I'm having a few health problems at the moment - hip pain and limited movement (had an xray last week to rule in/out potential causes), variable back and stiffness problems and generally feeling run down. I have a feeling that sitting in an office all day isn't helping my back, despite me getting up from my chair regularly. I'm wondering about going back to pilates (it's been a while since I last went) - I saw that a few of you were very positive about it - do you think it would help?
In terms of other things, I'm feeling quite liberated! I charity-shopped a load of my old clothes - great clothes but I don't wear them for a number of reasons (don't fit, wrong style/colour etc) - a few months ago I put them away, then this week I went through the bags and got rid of most as I'd not missed them at all.
Someone, maybe on this thread - I don't remember, said something along the lines of: it's better to pay a decent amount of money for a piece of clothing you love, rather than less money for lots of things that aren't right. So I've taken that on board and bought a very small number of new things that I just love (to replace the ones I've thrown out) and am already feeling much better :T and more confident
I've also had a new haircut - a bit shorter than I wanted, but it looks OK (have even had compliments) and is so much easier to sort out in the mornings. I've decided that I'm going to start a routine of having a proper relaxing bubble bath once a week - I had one yesterday and it was lush!
So feeling positive:)0 -

Definitely will help, or yoga will. I discovered tight hamstrings added to my back problems so if you sit a great deal this can be a factor.
Been busy few days and I haven't done shred since (and yes it is bloody hard NPM some of is aren't as super fit as some people:p) but oddly not dreading it.
Had my hair cut, hairdresser thought I dyed my hair blonde so had to burst that bubble and break the news that it's natural :rotfl:
Giving coconut oil a try as a natural deodorant. I treated myself to a new pot of raw, unrefined organic coconut oil as I was completely out. It's the best moisturiser I've ever used and I just love that it has so many uses
Went to yoga and I nearly managed crow pose. For a woman who can't even do a head stand or a hand stand I am quite chuffed :rotfl:
Not much else to report. Weather has been cooler today and even some rain this evening which I am really glad to see, garden way to parched, ground here goes rock hard like concrete
Maddie well done on your PT :T
Rummer well done on the "glow"
Alec nice to have compliments
