One of my friends has recommended a Babyliss rotating hair brush/dryer and I am thinking of using my Christmas money (Mum will be giving me about £40 if other years are anything to go by) and looking for one in the Sales.
Have a good day everyone.
Rose
I wavered for months about buying the Babyliss Big Hair styler, worried that I might spend the money and then not be able to use it properly (swollen wrist and hands), I have a just past chin length bob and bought the 38mm (smaller) one, I love it and wish I had got one sooner, I shopped around for a couple of weeks once I made up my mind and found a good click and collect deal at Tesco, since then QVC have sold a combined one where you can switch to the 38mm or 50mm head, it is best to dry hair to about 95% dry and then style using normal heat product etc. but the one I have suits me fine. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hello Lessonlearned, many thanks for the welcome.
Managed to write and send Xmas cards off yesterday which is a relief.
Also did manage to fit in aerobics dvd which made me feel tons better.
Then drank 2 pints of water to try and make up for the copious amounts of coffee I drank yesterday. Definitely need to make regular water drinking a habit and try and cut down on the coffee.
Hope everyone has a fab day. xG/C Jan £138.64/250

:hello:
I am still trying to rid my cough/cold, it keeps coming and going in waves and is driving me mad. Tried to avoid using medicine and shift it myself but the tail end is still hanging around  so I may break out some medicine later (mainly mucus-ey cough, sorry TMI) so if anyone has any natural/herbally tricks they find work send them my way
I won a 30minute spa treatment in a raffle at the end of last week so looking forward to booking in and having that in the new year, luckily the spa is also only a 15 minute drive from where I live which is fab so no need to extra pennies to be spent, although I might see if I can go for a swim and the sauna whilst i'm there
mouse I found the best way to start getting more water was to have one glass when I first get up, you could then have a coffee with your breakfast after, one glass mid morning, one with lunch, one mid afternoon and then one with tea. You can then increase as you see suits you. I now have a second glass with my cereal and another after tea (they are 1/2 pint size glasses).Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Great news about the raffle win newthrift, what a lovely prize. Hope you enjoy it when the time comes.
I'm tempted by the Babyliss rotating brush. Currently I use a hairdryer and round brush followed by a John Frieda hot air brush. The Babyliss seems to combine the two.
Still busy(ish) here but quite enjoying the run up to Christmas. been out to lunch with a friend today and a browse around the shops. Didn't need anything in particular and it was pleasant as she lives n a small, market town so not busy and they have a few interesting independents there.
mouse, I replaced breakfast juice with a glass of squash. I decided that sugar was sugar however 'natural' and so I could do without. It does have sweetener which some people don't like but as I only have the one glass I can live with that. If you're sitting at the computer I find I'm more likely to drink from a sports bottle of water.
Hopefully DH will get Christmas decs from loft tomorrow and I can decorate Friday ready for DD1's birthday on Saturday. Family are coming for coffee in the morning then some are back for Chinese in the evening. We prefer that to going out at this time of the year when so many restaurants are overcrowded and service and quality can slip.0 -
Hi everyone,
Had a quick read but not had time to peruse properly -will try and do that when I have a minute. Hectic here at moment but looking on here seems everyone is busy atm. Cat has now gone but unfortunately smell hasn't so have ripped DD2's room apart and now have a lovely set of paint splashed floorboards airing whenever possible to try and rid the room of the smell. Everything else in there has been cleaned to within an inch of its life (did my back no good at all!) Now need to save for a new carpet. Living room carpet I just keep spraying with odour neutralizer for now to keep smell at bay -again need to save for new carpet.
Am busy with OU work too next assignment is half finished but want to finish the other half before xmas if possible so i can relax for a few days.
Fabbing wise, like you LL - did the mirror test and don't like whAT i see at all. Weight wise is fine its just the clothes that make me look like a tramp and not just when i'm walking/cleaning but all the time. Really need to address that in the new yr. Have started going to a local college for treatments once a month or so and have another spa day to take before march (courtesy of groupon) Am run off my feet with xmas prep too- i love the family day but hate all the commercial cack that goes with it.
Anyway need to get on with tea will try and get back to catch up before xmas day but if I don't manage I wish you all a merry xmas and a happy new year. I know for some on here it will be xmas without a loved one - don't put pressure on yourselves after all it is just another day don't do anything you don't want and be kind to yourself.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Fab Friday - you know what to do.
Ladies I need a little whinge, I'm feeling a bit "Woe is me"so please indulge me for a minute.
On Wednesday I bought our Christmas tree. This was something OH and I always did together, I found it very difficult.
Yesterday I went to see my mum. I find that terribly difficult too. I know it sounds awful but I hate going because it just brings memories of OH flooding back. I want to move on but I can't because every time I visit mum it drags me back again ........there's no squaring that one, because if I restrict my visits to mum then I feel guilty.
There is no win-win scenario on this one, just lose lose.
Hey ho......
I'm also feeling so very tired and run down, a mass of aches and pains and Rather weepy. I look in the mirror and despair. It's definitely time for a makeover!!!!
I watched Snow White and the Hunstman last night. That Chris Hemsworth is one gorgeous hunk of man:D ......
Today I look and feel like the wicked queen in need of the lifeforce of fresh faced virgins:rotfl: Not very fab at all.
Never mind I'll just crack on - it looks bright and sunny outside so I'll walk down to the shops and see if some fresh air helps. On the plus side we are nearly at the solstice, the year is about to turn, the festive season is upon us and spring is waiting in the wings.
2014 was a difficult year but hopefully the worst is over.
I need to look to the future with courage, hope and optimism. In the meantime I'm going to rest, and enjoy the festive season with the boys and a few close friends. I shall eat drink and be as merry as I can. I feel all burnt out so its time to recharge the batteries, time for some decadence and indulgence.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you all so very much for all your kind words and thoughts and for all the support you have given me through this past oh so difficult year.
I wish you all a peaceful and joyous Christmas and invite you all to continue our journey next year.
I hope you all have a wonderful festive break filled with love, laughter and happiness.
May you dazzle and sparkle.........XX0 -
LL, my words never quite get across what I would like to say, however I want you to know that you have had a real impact on my life.
When I found this thread a few years ago I had lost my inner sparkle. Reading your encouraging words filled with warmth and good humour made me take a good look at myself and it was just what I needed. Now I have got myself back. I take time each day to appreciate the things that I do have and I am making changes to improve the things that aren't quite the way I want them to be. This thread is a comfortable place where I can come to share my highs and lows knowing there will be sympathy, support and a gentle shove in the right direction.
Please never apologise for sharing how you are feeling that is what we are here for, to cheer each other on when things are going well and pick each other up when life causes us to stumble. Take the time that you need just for you and your familyand when you are ready everything else will start to fall into place.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Ladies I have popped by to share a small triumph
I have found myself some exercise buddies and I am now exercising 4-5 times a week. This is a huge step for me as I dislike exercise intensely and although I can't say that I like the exercise it it good to be working out with others
I have also been keeping up most of my fabbing routines. Every week I plan my outfits and have them ironed and hanging up ready to go so no excuses for poor dressingMy skincare regime is going well and I got a compliment about my clear skin so it must be working. The other day I got my hair trimmed and it is growing into the style I like (after a disasterous hair cut).
My diet I have to admit has been a bit hit or missmy main meals are healthy and well balanced so I know I am getting all my nutrients and essentials however sweet things are still my downfall. Once Christmas is out of the way I am going to cut out the rubbish and do a mini detox to hopefully kick start a healthier lifestyle and that coupled with exercise should have me looking sensational for valentines day
This will be my last plump Christmas!
I hope you are all fabulous and making the most of the festive season.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Beautifully put rummer and I'd like to echo your words for the same is true for me.
I'm so glad things are going well for you too.
I always try to join in Fab Friday but today I've been particularly pleased with my hair. Earlier in the week I looked at a few youtube videos when researching that Babyliss dryer. So today when I was doing my blow dry I made extra effort sectioning before drying. My hair looks as good as any salon blow dry.:D It could be just coincidence but I'll certainly be doing it again and will try to buy a few more clips to help with the sectioning. Blowdrying/curling the underneath properly first certainly seemed to help.
I went out today to do a mini shop but got a fair few of the Christmas things too. It all helps. I'm almost at the 'fresh stuff only' stage.:xmassmile
BUT it's my DD1's birthday tomorrow so thoughts of Christmas on hold for a bit.0
